Please choose one:

(1) The news release in the first post - Is this for real?

(2) Was this release for real but later withdrawn? It does not appear on the TNA web site:

http://etna.mcot.net/

(3) Is today April 1??

Just want to pose these questions before this thread becomes one of the longer threads on thaivisa.com

Is it gonna be handled by the same guys who block the 5 million porn pages and check all the sim card registrations....

I'm sure they will begin on closing all massage parlours upcountry, right? lol.

Shouldn't these massage parlours be protected as cultural heritage :-P

"Wipe Out" ? Kinda harsh. Sort of like what happened to the drug dealers. They began to suffer from lead poisioning. The bodies began to pile up.

555 TIT. Chuwit gets my vote.

Getting rid of the soapy barons would be easier. You could just drown them and no wasted resorces. Of course, the guy who gets a backhander for ammo won't be too thrilled.

I wonder vices included A go-go bars in Soi Nana, Cowboy ,Patpong ? Is that consider legal or backup by influent politician figures. Very confuse and funng law here.

Talking about total banned country like Malaysia, no a single a go-go exist at all, That's what we called wipe out! Here we talking no gambling but government are selling 2 and 3 digits loterry. Funny very funny !

The police won't be happy with that. I've seen too many policemen walking away with expensive bottles of whiskey ("Christmas presents") and poorly concealed money stuffed in pockets at the various enterainment areas we've all come to love.

Yet another CRACKDOWN, and yet another waste of time, considering the MIB own or have significant financial support from these types of establishments.

It's just the usual "Lets clean up Thailand's image" tubthumping that will be forgotten about within 6 weeks, otherwise how would the MIB survive without the income these places make them?

We all know nothings gonna change.......it never does

Great news. That means we can use the V.I.P back rooms again and also more seats to sit on at the bar.No more standing room only in certain placers.

hahahaha You think the V.I.P will stay home now?

Or just call them out to his big flash (owned by the Bank car) :o

I think the powers-that-be recycle this exact same press release and re-issue it annually, changing only the name of the top guy in charge of the alleged crackdown this year. :o

I agree - wiping out the influential figures seems a bit on the tough side - I guess they mean to wipe out their influence - an even harder call.

Another crackdown - how many do we have in play currently?

Why not start a section to monitor and report on the success of these crackdowns - George do you have a comedy section on the board?

The Thai people aren't mushrooms, but someone we know is treating them as if they were....

Not that it'll matter to those who'd rather whinge, but under TRT, local gambling houses have taken a hit with the 2-3 digit underground lottery and sportsbook revenues (before TRT, these folks did business in the comfort of their own homes... but now in fear of getting busted, they have to rent out hotel rooms and do business in karaoke parlours on the particular draw and game nights). And they (the TRT) aren't even playing by the old school rules and moving their own people in (who could just easily be killed). It's hard to fight TRT when they are playing "dirty" and are using laws.

These are folks who will be MORE than happy to see TRT go. Nice company for the anti-Thaksin crowd.

As usual, any such crackdown would be highly selective, and will NOT start at the top. I would not dismiss this announcement as meaningless: it could represent an excellent opportunity to eliminate some unwanted competition.
