June 27, 201214 yr My colleague will pick up a Honda CRV from the dealer this weekend and was wondering whether to replace the stock tyres for something better. Any advice here? I've no idea about what she could change to but imagine that it would be best to do immediately as the tyre shop may buy the stock tyres.
June 27, 201214 yr I miss the point here, is it a new car? You don't want the tires on it? Especially if you don't know what's on it, I'd say have a look first. I assume they'll roll on Bridgestone and not much wrong with that.
June 28, 201214 yr It depends on the brand and model of your stock tires; their ratings (tire longevity, performance features and ride comfort) and then your personal preferences (how you rate tires performance features). What brand and model are your CRV stock tires? Having just picked up my SUV last week, I couldn't get to the tire dealer fast enough. In my case, the stock tires were Bridgestone Dueler H/T. These tires do not rate well in handling abilities or longevity when compared to some other tires. Since I was also upgrading my wheels, I got a THB 20,000 'trade-in' discount towards purchase of my new set of wheels and tires. The amount of discounts will vary depending on tire size and brand, and dealer.
June 28, 201214 yr If the factory fitted tyres were in any way unsuitable for the ride they would not fit them, would not risk the fallout. Unless your a rally driver l do not see the point in dumping new tyres unless you buying replacement rims. Remember if you do change the rims it could squash your warranty.

That what i did with my Accord on the very 1st day - i traded the ugly 16 inches (15K) in against nice 20" with Toyo tires, just visit at least 5 dealers in order to get the best deal
June 28, 201214 yr i traded my ugly 16" stock tires (Honda Accord) on the very 1st day for 16k against nice 20" - just visit at least 3 - 5 dealer in order to get the best price i had huge differences up to 50% for the same brand of tires and wheels.
June 28, 201214 yr Changing to larger rims may affect warranty but changing tyres only should not, providing the replacement size and rating is close or same as OEM. Some OEM tyres are not great like the Bridgestones mentioned above, but that is not always the case. Maybe some CRV drivers will chip in here with experience, otherwise try the standard tyres. If you are not happy with them, should be able to swap them for a reasonable trade value within the first thousand kms or so. Used tyres with good tread in common sizes are easy to swap but you certainly need to shop around like MrJ says.
July 1, 201214 yr I bought a CRV a few years ago which came fitted with Bridgestone tyres. The road noise from these tyres was incredibly bad and I eventually changed them for Michelin. This totally transformed the car, road noise was halved and handling was much better. If Honda are still fitting Bridgestone's I would get rid of them straight away.
December 19, 20196 yr Hi, can you tell me the make and model of the Michelin's, and how much I should pay?

The crv may come with eithert toyo r45 (but seemingly replaced with michelin st3), or goodyear efficiency grip on the 2wd versions. Mine has the michelin st3 and they are very quiet. I did hear from someone that the efficiency grip was noisy on their 2wd crv. So it would depend on what is on the OP's car now. I don't think you will find a quieter tire than the michelin though. Performance is good enough, as the crv doesn't like to be thrown around corners anyway. Braking and treadwear seem fine too.

Changing wheels to fit personal aesthetic choice is something I get and it's not a cheap option. I don't understand why, but my truck always seems to drive better after a good scrub and polish.
