Hey guys looking for some recent info / experience if you can help?

I want a double or multiple entry visa but I'm already in Thailand (I'm from the UK).

My mates got a double entry tourist visa in Jan this year from Penang, are they still doing them? I would prefer a multiple entry but don't really want to hoof it over to Laos.

I've have quite a lot of thai stamps in my passport and from reading some threads about getting that nasty red stamp in your passport for having 'too many' visas I was wondering if you think I would have a problem?

12 feb 2010 - 30 day stamp on arrival BKK

08 sep 2010 - 30 day stamp on arrival BKK

02 feb 2011 - 15 day stamp at border from Cambodia

01 feb 2012 - single entry TV from Penang 2 months + 1 month ext

29 apr 2012 - 30 day stamp on arrival BKK

06 jun 2012 - 30 day stamp on arrival BKK

Cheers,

Doubt Penang will isue a double entry, they will certainly not if you have an extension on your tourist visa.

Laos is your best bet for a double entry.

You did not say where you are located, but Savanaket, Laos is best, nice town also, if You are in Northeast Thailand go to Vientiane airport 112.00 US one way Lao Airlines, easy.

Friend went again last week to Penang, no problems with single entry Tourist Visa...

For him it is his 7th back to back........ say no limit, just must go there every 60 days, people that got an extension were refused...

Info is what I was told, myself have never been to Penang

I have a passport with a 60 day visa which I have extended once. Do you think I could get a single entry visa in Penang?

When was your refusal? Have seen recent reports that the old policy has been dropped recently and that they will again issue visas for those that have previously extended a tourist visa entry.

If you have an extenson on your last tourist visa, Penang will deny.

Kuala Lumpur would be better, applying in Laos the best option.

lopburi3 says it might be possible to get a double entry visa in Penang now. Is your info updated : )?

Kind regards

I said nothing about a double entry visa in Penang - only that they may have changed there no visa policy if previous extension of stay.

Ok. So with regard to double entry most likely not and single entry is just a maybe.

Doesn't sound so good.

On the other hand Penang sounds more dynamic than Vientiane somehow. I'm thinking maybe I will have to return to one of these destinations again and I might prefer one over the other.

I've heard people speak English in Malaysia which would alleviate communications... But I also know that it's an Islamic country so I'm worried it might be a bit strict like Middle Eastern countries. Visited North Africa and the Middle East a few years back and sorry to stay but did not enjoy that trip at all.

I'm an IT guy and I know at least two developers in Malaysia so that would be another reason to head there over Vientiane. Do you know if it's easy to do business in Penang and Malaysia?
