Sorry if this sounds strange. But are you asking for an American who teaches English. Do you want your child to be heard across a crowded room?

Why do you want to teach a child american english? americans cannot speak correct english.

Actually, I think we earned to the right to speak it anyway we want, and perhaps he wants his child to pronounce words like China to end with an a, not Chiner.

Well, Americans can start a proper noun and the beginning of a sentence with a capital letter. Also, they can spell the name of a language or a proper noun such as English with the correct letter size at the beginning.

They also know how to make jambalaya!!!!!!!!

Why do you want to teach a child incorrect english , americans cannot speak english

It is all the same English where ever you go, the difference is the pronunciation and dialects, eg: Canada is vastly different from Australia and New Zealand, then the way the Scots,Welsh and Irish speak English is different again from the people in London.

And even there are huge differences between guys from South London and other areas etc, or take Birmingham mumbling for an example.

Not offending people from this part of the world.

The USA has sthe most differences in every state there is their own accent, but it is all English!

How can you call American English incorrect?

Guess most Americans are easier to understand by people who want to learn English.............wai.gif

It isn't the same English.

Pants ....... American definition long trousers.

Pants ........ English definition underwear for groin area.

'Bumming a fag' ........ has two entirely different meanings, depending on if you are in London or New York

Agreed. Hope it's not important if an "undertaker', or a' funeral director' will help us to settle down........biggrin.png

Not degrading language schools but why pay higher hourly rates for a group session when one on one lessons will be cheaper and more effective ? He will also be subject to the thai group mentality of not saying anything out of fear of losing face.

My niece from the UK visited NY one time and walked all over the place looking for a freehouse. Passing many bars and liquor stores along the way. biggrin.png

Indeed a sad story that she couldn't find a treehouse in NY.........

By the way, what's a freehouse?????wai.gif

Most pubs in the UK are tied to one brewery, they can only sell drinks that brewery distributes.

A Freehouse has no such ties and sell whatever it likes .... real ales etc.

? Hence the origin of the word "Pub" ?

A house intended for the public to consume the fruits of the brewery, located on or near site, and scattered through every village and town. A Public house, pub?

? Hence the origin of the word "Pub" ?

A house intended for the public to consume the fruits of the brewery, located on or near site, and scattered through every village and town. A Public house, pub?

'pub' is a term invented by the Victorians, an abbreviation of 'public house'. It was the Romans who gave England its first 'pubs' almost two thousand years ago. In Roman towns tabernae served food and wine (and probably the local ale too), they displayed vine leaves outside to advertise their trade. When the Romans left, the tabernae disappeared.

Over the next few centuries invaders came and went, and occasionally settled. One thing all the invaders had in common was their fondness for drinking. They had a particular thirst for ale, which was brewed using malted barley, water and yeast. It was sweet and often very powerful. Skill was needed to produce good ales, but they soured easily and did not keep well.

Let's hope not all people in this world start drinking Budweiser. Cheers- biggrin.png

If you want a good choice of teachers to choose from have a look at the Text and Talk website. TandT is situated in the complex at KKU and they train teachers for TEFL. You can join in some free lessons there as well. They are for all standards some may be to simple some to hard but they can advise. It's all practice though. If you go on the website you will see email for Steve Beachy. He has 20 years experience teaching English in Thailand and speaks Thai himself. Worth a look as an option to consider and maybe gives phone numbers as well. I would say I have no pecuniary connection to Tand T just trying to help.

diggle,

Thanks, I think that building is near where he goes now for general tutoring. I recognize the building in the website. I may even take the TEFL course and teach someday.

It's in the complex where the banks are and three floors for eating and studying. TandT on 1st floor up and as you look at the front on the very right hand side as you look at the front near to the staircase on the right side of the building. Go up that staircase and walk into the main building as you reach the end of the wide corridor turn right and on your right is TandT. Ask for Steve Beachy and please mention my name Duncan. I did email him about your need for a teacher so that if you contacted him by email he understood where you heard of him and please mention the free lessons if you want your son to go. Steve is very helpful and would welcome a regular student visitor to these classes I'm sure. They are always looking for students for classes for their trainee teachers, quite a few Thais go because it is free and good practice
