Which Visa Would Be Best?

Featured Replies

I am retired and married to a Thai. We are moving to Thailand in July but would like to travel outside the country often. Which would be the best visa to apply for based on these facts?

Non- Imi- Multi "O" would probably be best for you. :o Good Luck.

Up to you.

Do you have heartburn with money in a Thai bank account?

Do you have pension income of 65k or more per month and over age 50?

Do you intend to remain in Thailand?

Do you wish to apply for permanent residency?

You have 3 choices - support Thai wife extension of stay to a non immigrant visa - retirement extension of stay to a non immigrant visa - plain old multi entry non immigrant visa.

All can be based on the multi entry non immigrant O visa so that would be the logical first step/visa.

Personally I'd opt for Lopburi 3 first option in which case you do not need to apply for a multi-entry O visa. Just get a single entry O based on marriage (easy just produce marriage cert). After 60 days you can get your entry extended to one year (and obtain a multi entry permit). Must have 400k in Thai bank or 40k month income. First extension can be a bit of hassle initially but then you have peace of mind and can come and go as you please. Otherwise you cannot remain for more than 90 days at any time. You then extend annually in Thailand, which despite what you may read or hear is a simple process.

Marriage Visa is the best choice , Maybe you change your mind to got a job again.
