Medium Overstay

Featured Replies

I just got back from Laos after paying 20,000 for 251 days overstay.

Nong Khai land crossing. Paid the money. Left. Came back the next day with new visa.

LOL that's funny. How long is your new visa?

I had friends, a middle aged couple, who got hauled off to an interview room and inconvenienced for an hour because they had overstayed 8 hours.

First and only time my friend.

Flooded out in Ayuttaya at the time of my visa finishing and 140,000 baht hospital bill for my son...

I did not know they ranked over stays on a small medium and large basis, lol

I had over stay and exited thru Nong Khai, they just took money, made me sign

a form and they put a stamp in my passport.

Seems over stay is not an issue unless you get caught before you are leaving

the country

whistling.gif The overstay fee is 500 Baht per day with currently a maximum fine of 20,000 Baht.

So effectively if you're over 40 days overstay you pay the maximum fine of 20K Baht.

They put a stamp in your passport that says you overstayed...but that currently does not stop anyone from returning immeadiately again after they pay their fine and exit the country.

And, if you don't mind the Thai immigration officers laughing at you got being a dumbs--t falang who is to stupid to understand the rules....and that's is what they do think of you when you overstay... is all that happens to you.

Of course, if you happen to be stopped going to the local airport on your 249th day of that 250 day overstay....you're probably going to be spending at least one night in the local immigration IDC lock-up.

From what I'm told (never been there myself) that IDC isn't usually a pleasent experience;

But, as the Thais say, 'Up To You".
