Fuel Tank Reconditioning

Featured Replies

I'm at a loss.

I have minor leaking in my fuel tank and cannot find any aftermarket tank liner/sealer such as would be sold in the US, Australia, the UK or many other western countries. Something like Creem or Por50 type stuff.

Am I missing something? Asking for the wrong thing?

Seems that there should be some appropriate material available, perhaps for marine or aviation purposes.

Any ideas out there?

Thanks in Chiang Mai

If I was you I would buy a new fuel tank and not mess around with a old rusty leaking one.

Must be cheap or maybe buy a used one if it looks good (also inside).

While I appreciate the sentiment, this tank is off a vintage bike, is not rusty, but leaking at a seam and/or a previously cut and welded area.

Surely, Honda, Yamaha etc tanks do not leave the factory without a liner to protect from rust and corrosion in this climate, particularly with alcohol used in gas which attracts moisture and promotes rust etc. I do not use gasohol in any vehicle, certainly not this one.

Thanks again for the opinion, but a new tank is not a possibility and used tanks are likely to need the treatment anyway.
