Hikage
Last reports on this building are a couple of years old and a lot of talk about renovation and construction noise. Any residents advise on current status?: 1. Renovation noise in the building 2. Nearby construction noise 3. Has the view been compromised by other more recent projects? Also, how's getting into town without wheels? Songthaew or tuk tuk possible from here? What's the cost? How far is the nearest mini mart to get basic supplies? How scenic is the general area? Looking for a quiet, green, out of the way place. Thanks...

Red bus will take you to Rimping supermarket for 20 bahts. Tuk Tuk will take you there for 60 bahts. I know they advertise 15 minute walk from night bazaar but in reality it is more like a 30 minute plus walk. It is not located in the centre of the city.. Renovation work is now finished. There are 3 bars located within 100 metres of the building but when I stayed there they caused no noise problems. They have a small restaurant operated by a husband and wife team. The husband is the cook and was trained at a large hotel. He does an excellent job and the prices are very reasonable. Winisa who looks after rentals for the condo owners speaks very good english and is willing to help you in any way she can.

Will check out the construction around the area though.

in country
I have been living there for 9 months,You do get intermittent work noise but nothing serious. They have done a lot of painting and clean up of the common areas. They were water stained after last years floods. As a building it is set back well from Changklan rd so no traffic noise. There are a few karaoke places that I think you can here from one side of the building but I have never herd them. Demographic looks like about 50/ 50 thai Ferang. Good views of the hills and Doi Suthep from one side. the condo's vary quite a bit in size, shape and balcony. I would say it would be in the middle of the condo range, some much better some worse. I have enjoyed my stay here. We often get a good breeze and is cooler than in the city.

in country
I arrived just after last years flood, you could see the watermark on the building at about 80 to 90 centimeters, even flooding not so severe as that would still be a problem. I understand the ping overflowing is not an annual event. I guess if you want to rent short to medium time probably OK. If you want to buy, different story. At the back of the building there is a building being constructed, but the construction stopped before I arrived,It as remained same same for 9 months. barefoot1988
do they accept cards? im looking for a dining place for about 15pax, not sure how much are we going to pig out but it would be nice to pay by card than carrying a roll of 1000bahts, we still have activities on the later night Edited July 19, 2012 by barefoot1988
