I am maried with a Thai woman who is currently a pain in the arse and it would be nice to just have a friendship with a western woman given half the chance, but it's almost like they are suspicious of why a bloke in his early 40's in Thailand would want to make contact.

Seriously, the question is fundamentally flawed. It seems to set out the premise that Thais (Asians?) are somehow all good partners and farangs are not. Complete rubbish IMO.

I look for a person. If the person fits the bill and wins my heart, then fine.

The reason I spent so long trying to win my girlfriend (she was not interested in me from the beginning) was because she was completely different than the others; she did not throw herself at me with fake smiles and hollow compliments. I always thoroughly disliked those false airs. She's been honest with me from the start - it wasnt love at first sight for her, it took time for me to become something other than just a friend in her mind.

Apart from being gorgeous, she talked to me like an equal, showed intelligence, independence and strength, a sense of humour and real empathy towards other people.

That combination won my heart. Not her being Thai, that was definitely a side issue. Subservience. Yeah right!

,i am a 19yr old girl living in pattaya!it dose not bother me one bit when i see white men with thai girls....all but one of my male friends here have a thai gf!maby i am just usta it but i usualy get on well with these ladys they bring out with them i try my best to talk to the girls!you can not say that all Women here are jealous and bad,there is a lot of us who are quite happy to just get on with life here,what other people choose to do is no ones buissness but there own!no one should care what others think of them!maby i am just being very young silly saying that but its what i think!
