Still waiting for any response. Surely it can't be a complete desert???

I have no great love for anyone in the current line up, and I presume you mean government. I know that I just think less of people who have done what Abhisit is alleged to have done. I don't think people who avoid national service are good leaders. Abhisit is still Abhisit. He's a good person; he's just less so IMO.

As this alleged / possible case against k. Abhisit and/or others who might have 'falsified' a document, is from 1986 or 1988 I wonder what the term of limitation is on such offences. 1988 is about 24 years ago I think. AS I don't know the answer I'll suspend talking about character assassination for the moment ermm.gif

So, if a statute of limitations makes it difficult to prosecute him it is fine by you that he lied?

Who lied? They're still investigating.

And to answer your question, no if in 1986/1988 something incorrect/illegal happened it is not fine with me. Mind you, more recent the two sons of Dept. PM Pol. Captain Chalerm got caught, dismissed and reinstated with promotion. One even allegedly shot another police officer, but after fleeing the country, daddy arranging things, he came back and no one remembered a bloody thing. Daddy even talking proudly about what he did for his son.

Now tell me again, how come all of sudden people start to get principled to a fault?

Let's compare him with someone like,,,oh, I don't know, say Tony Blair, with his sexed-up dossier on the need to invade Iraq because of WMD...

You want fake, there's fake!

Can ANYONE in Thai politics really afford to throw stones? I think the reds are beginning to fret a bit about their prospects going forward. I predict more of these "discoveries".

@ carra: Do you really not see that there is no good or bad side in politics, escpecially in Thai politics. Red is S#@t and Yellow is S#@t.

Thailand needs someone like Insi Daeng.

How do you enlist as a reserve officer if you have never been in the military?

I have some serious concerns about the quality of journalism since another news source reports that the issue is about whether or not he applied for deferment of conscription screening when he was studying in UK. It also mentions that there is an ongoing defamation case brought by Abhisit against Jatuporn. Why isn't this reflected in the Nation article?

If this is true, then it could damage his credebility, but not too much given the state of Thai polotics.

TIT. He and all the rest have no credetability. It' simply a matter of whose the most corrupt and who gets caught.

Yeah, and the cooking show of samak was a big security problem for Thailand,he should be happy he did not get the death sentence, what a bad guy, maipenrai faking a few documents to avoid military service is not that bad for a guy who was later PM of Thailand,Double standards? No way

Yes it is true, talking about an old cooking-show news story is also not relevant to the problems facing Thailand in 2012.

We can go even further back and talk about events of a thousand years ago. I heard that somebody stole somebody elses pig.

Lets discuss that old pig-stealing crime, today in 2012. I'm sure it is really relevant somehow. Its not like theres any really pressing important infrastructure problems in Thailand that need to be dealt with urgently by the PTP "government".

ermm.gif

Yes, I agree. Get the infrastructure going again as it was starting to roll 6 yrs. ago.

Reminds me of the opposition conservatives in the States doing everything they can to find (or manufacture) discrepancies in Obama's birth certificate.

Personally, I don't trust a word of it. It's too easy for documents to be faked / altered by someone bent on destroying a powerful person's reputation.

You might consider switching forums, like one more oriented to BP, or some 'free for all' forums where there is no need to restrict oneself to what others tell you is within bounds rolleyes.gif

I like The Nation personally.

Its like a blind old clumsy sheepdog that walks into walls, its not very smart and it makes a mess every day, but it is loyal to the end, and sometimes it jumps up on to the bed in the morning and gives me a big drooling kiss.

ahhh who cares?

it doesn't matter to people on here what golden boy abhisit has ever done.

it makes no difference, he's still the shining example of honesty and integrity and all that's right with thai politics... amirite guys, who's with me?

high five.

I would call myself an Abhisit supporter although a non voting one of course but I think you'll find I've never said he was perfect just that he appeared better than the rest. In fact in the last few days I've been posting about him.

Check posts 40, 45, 79, 84 and 86

If he's done something wrong then he should be dealt with accordingly.

Of course he could always run away to Dubai and claim it's all politically motivated. Then he could he could have that chat Thaksin apparently wants and he could point out that not everyone wants an amnesty as he seems to think nor have they all asked for one.

No wonder he doesn't wear a yellow shirt. He'd look like he was naked. sick.gif

Why don't you move on and look up the word "forum" It's under the words "Thai" and "Visa" top left of the page in case you need help spelling.

Sorry about the rant everyone but I've had to explain this so many times I couldn't be bothered being civil today.

Laugh! This thread is hilarious. The country is being run by a convicted coward criminal on the run. His clueless sister is just a proxy. I'm sure at some point they'll tie Abhisit to working at a concentration camp in Poland before he was born. He was educated in England you know!! As i recall someone else was born abroad.

Thaksin can cry foul all day long. He'll never get the approval that he has to have. See 2006 and him crying on TV after he got shot down for being "caretaker"

Personally I would believe Abhisit over the words of the PTP empowered defence department. Easy to sling the merde when yours is the finger on the fan.

I guess you hold him up to a saintly standards of integrity and honesty (in other words crossing the street on a red light or buying pirated dvds would be unthinkable) while the anti-government posters (not necessarily Abhisit/Democrat supporters), would take the rational route and not hold him up to such standards. The Red-shirts and its supporters however, must believe that Abhisit is committing such a huge crime that it would negatively affect the nation for them to drill him on this issue. What were the consequences of his actions to the nation?

Hey just a month ago there was an advertisement in our classifieds selling fake documents and diplomas!!

Guys,

If you have been here any length of time, you certainly know of similar situations...

My wife's original Birth Certificate was lost in a house fire - the legal & official replacement is incorrect.

A friend, born here. legally adopted by his foreign father and raised abroad, has provided certified copies to regain his Thai citizenship, but no local records can be found...

My oldest son's records have the date the birth was registered as his official birthday, an error of a few weeks...

Yes, i heard that answer "mai mii (no have)" quite often. It translates as i don't know where it could be and/or i am too lazy to looking/searching for it.

In most cases the thing i was requesting was available, just needed some little more afford to get or to access it.

so no opinion, not a shred of a negative response towards this... just divert, divert, divert.

is there a point in anyone on this forum trying to discuss anything political with you?

have you ever acknowledged any meaningful wrongdoing on your side?

i'm surprised people still interact in debates with you on here tbh, but that's just imho....

It is sort of ironic you spamming the word "divert", given that this 'Smear Abhisit' campaign is a diversionary tactic to avert the public's eyes away from the crimes of PTP themselves.

PTP crimes which are not only much more serious than draft-dodging, but are current 2012 crimes that have occured this year and are still occuring. Them throwing this 'diversion' 1986 non-story to their lapdogs and their baying hounds, is I'm sure enough diversion for simple minded loyal canines but it doesn't interest most educated human beings at all.

Good dog. Have a biscuit.

ermm.gif

How is raising an important issue a 'smear campaign'?

if it is can we also agree the the sexual misconduct allegations against the elected pm also a smear campaign? i am just wondering what constitutes a smear campaign in your head, is it anything against your beloved abhisit is a smear campaign?

Surely we should be looking at current issues, not 20 year old minor infractions - also by the way, nowhere does it state that there was any forgery - the document they came up with showed a difference between the claim made and their records- nothing to do with forging anything at all....but as I said - its over 20 years ago - lets go back through ALL pollies - on both sides - and see what we can dig up, then take 'em all to court... how about a bit of common sense and perspective...

I object to the way that BOTH sides in this argument seem to imply that its only Thailand that has this situation... I defy any country to go back through 20 years of their politicians pasts, and see what muck they end up with stuck in the prongs of their rake!

Basing my contribution on the report rather than extensive investigation (ok - Phiphidon?)

IMO, the article is referring to a document, rather than the individual.

I have every sympathy with those who believe Abhisit shouldnt be different to anyone else, but at the end of the day the law is the law. I am sure that the non-Abhisit supporters would be the first to agree that the law is paramount and applies equally to everyone.

IMHO, Abhisit is one of the few people trying to move Government towards helping Thailand, rather than helping Thaksin, but that is only my opinion.

IF (and in my opinion it's a big IF), Abhisit has a case to answer, it will be interesting to see if he jumps into his canoe and paddles furiously away from Thailand before he can face the consequences of any legal judgement. I can't imagine the proceeds of his alleged misdeeds stretching to an expensive relocation in the Arab world.

Thailand could then have 2 fugitive ex-PMs (sorry, 1 fugitive ex PM and an ousted former PM)

In the meantime, I believe (IMHO) that Abhisit is of more benefit to Thailand trying to get PTP to realise that Democracy is not a free-for-all.

Non-Abhisit supporters will need to wait to see if he has a case to answer, and whether an INDEPENDENT legal system finds him guilty.

Not only that, they would also be able to compare his dealing with the situation with that of Thaksin.

Sorry Phiphidon - I remain neutral politically, but on the side of Thailand

My wife's ID is one year out because her parents didn't register her birth - the same situation with someone else I met. Bearing in mind the relatively few Thais I know, what proportion of Thai nationals have correct birth certificates/IDs?

Perhaps documentation isn't a Thai strong-point. Perhaps it's not an issue until.............

are you crazy? Eton educated? Oxford? and you think they got the docs wrong? this is NOT a 'normal' Thai it's an English born and bred person please don't try and make out that 'you know a Thai who had their docs mucked up' there is NO correlation. Docs might not be a Thai strong point but he wasn't born in Thailand and was not raised or educated here.
