Swimming

I wouldnt say fully clothed, usually thais swim in shorts and tshirt :o

Most Thais are very shy of appearing unclothed or semi naked as we say. They wear t shirts and shorts when bathing in pools and the ocean or rivers and waterfalls etc. Although Thais , for the most part, have beautiful bodies, unlike the usual fat farang, they are reluctant to show in public.

However, I believe the main reason has to do with not wanting to get suntanned as they are terrified of becoming darker as this is a sign (to ignorant people) that you are a person who works outside.

Thais think white is beautiful and the farangs spend tons of money to get that toasty tanned look.

Go figure.

Is it true that a lot of people swim fully clothed in the sea in thailand? Does that include swimming pools as well? Thank you.

Woman usually sit fully dressed at the poolside and swim with T-shirts and shorts, but wrap a towel around before stepping in the pool. Getting out of the pool same procedure. Young girls and teenagers use normal swimming dresses but never bikinis.

Boys and men use normal swimming dresses.
