30 Day Extension On Tourist Visa To Retirement Extension

Featured Replies

Simple Question:

I just got a 30 day extension on my Tourist Visa (TV) today in BKK.

Is it possible to file for the Retirement Extension during my Tourist VIsa extension - assuming I meet all the criteria for the Retirment Extension (800K properly seasoned, over 50)..

I appreciate informed feedback!

thank u!

You must obtain a non immigrant visa entry to extend for retirement so could have saved that 1,900 baht if you had asked earlier. At this point you can run down the 30 day extension at bit and then apply for change of status for a new 2,000 baht fee/TM.86 showing the required money for retirement extension of stay (no requirement for it to be in account any period of time). You get a new entry of 90 days and during the last 30 days present the money again (this time seasoned) and use normal TM.7/1,900 baht fee to obtain retirement extension of stay.

For the same retirement purposes, is it possible to obtain a change of status to a non-immigrant visa, prior to applying for a retirement extension, when in country on a 30 day visa waiver, as opposed to a TV?

Sorry guys, just seen another post which I believes answers this question, so unless I misinterpreted the other thread I believe the answer to my question is yes.

Indeed yes, only the form is different (TM87 instead of TM86).

Thanks for the confirmation Mario.

For the retirement extension (another year), I have a letter from the UK embassy showing my income.

What else do I need to show at Immig? Passport--which pages? How many copies? TM 87? Anything else?

Thx

Eddy

This thread is about conversion from tourist visa. For simple renewal of extension it varies a bit by immigration office but if income amount will meet requirements that original letter, copies of data page, visa page, and extension/permitted to stay stamp in passport and departure card. Outside of Bangkok perhaps more than one copy. TM.7 with 4x6cm current photo attached and 1,900 baht fee. They may want some proof of address or living bank account and you should have proof of income in letter if asked.
