Having a problem with ticks in my house,have washed the dogs and are using Frontline treatment.

But i need a stronger spray to clean my house for ticks,anyone know where in Chalong/Rawai area they sell this.

Ticks are a constant problem if you have a dog here, at least in Rawai. I take my dog to the vet to get a shot for them about this time of the year, every year. The rainy season seems to be the worst for ticks! I also check her for ticks everyday. Much better after the injection than before. Also a good idea to get you dog a de-worming injection as well. And of course rabies, etc...

I put up with a similar problem for about 3 years, in spite of regularly taking them to the Vet (Chalong Animal Hospital), and only having 'Frontline' offered as a solution. After a recommendation, I took them to PAWS (Phuket Animal Welfare Society), also in Chalong where now they get an injection every 6 weeks or so (it's about 250 baht a shot for each dog - I have 4). What a difference, absolutely no ticks anywhere on the dogs or in the house. The 2 large dogs (Golden Retrievers) were also prone to getting a blood infection every 6 months or so, resulting in quite expensive treatment for a couple of weeks each time). That problem has gone away.

I really recommend PAWS, as they genuinely seek to do the best for your animal, rather than the most expensive treatment.

There is a spray available that you spray your garden with every month or so to get rid of ticks and lice. I started a year ago and after 3-4 applications havnt seen either since. We haven't sprayed for several months either.

Talk to the people at phuket international dog school (also a kennels) they have the spray, I purchased from them.

Anyone had any work by a Pest control company done in and outside house..how much does it cost?

Only chlorpyrifos is effective against a severe tick infestation. Frontline, revolution etc may work against the odd stray tick but are useless once they are in your house and garden nesting in their tens of thousands. Vets love prescribing these things because they are expensive and need to be used every month. Had a bad infestation that lasted two years. Tried everything recommended by vets for tens of thousands of baht but the ticks weren't reduced for even a day with any of them - may just as well have been water and possible was. Each of 3 dogs still produced 20-30 a day and had to be de-ticked morning and night. One them died as a result. We finally found a company in Bangkok to spray this relatively dangerous chemical and they were rather coy about saying what it was until we had paid in advance. Hunt everywhere for nests and burn all the eggs because they aren't killed by any chemical known to man. Then spray chlorpyros through the house and garden up walls and everywhere after making arrangements for humans and dogs to be elsewhere for at least 12 hours or 24 if you can. Since taking that drastic action we have been infestation free , touch wood, for 3 years. Sorry don't know anyone to do it outside Bkk but good luck.

Anyone had any work by a Pest control company done in and outside house..how much does it cost?

We have used Chiang Mai Pest Controll for 5 year now, and they really do the job. Come every 3 month, but if there is something worrying use in between they come and check. One year is 13.000 baht. I think we paid 15.000 baht the first year.
