Clearly, the many requirements to obtain a "Marriage 0" Visa serve the purpose of eliminating abuse of this type of visa. A mayor requirement seems therefore to be to deliver proof of "living together". For how many months out of a year?

In our case: Until I reach my (financial) pension age, my wife wants to keep on working in Europe for about 6 to 7 months a year (for another 3 years before setteling permanently with me in Thailand when I will get my retirement benefits). Ergo: Until that time comes, will her stay with me in Thailand for 5 to 6 Months per year qualify as "living together" ? = We are married for 9 years !

Like mentioned above: a bit of a special situation, even experts like Lopbury and Mario might be challenged by this sort of marriage-o-visa-question.

Thanks & cheers.

Unless someone makes a point of it do not believe there would be any questions as long as she were here for each renewal. If there was an issue you could easily obtain a multi entry non immigrant O visa allowing stay for 90 day periods.

Don't forget that It is possible but unlikely that immigration is performing a visit during the under consideration period.

This is to check if you are really living together.

But as said by others, besides the possible house visit it does it does not matter how you are living as long she shows up for the application and possible house visit.

Your wife is Thai as " lopburi " says as long as she is with you on the renewal of 1 year extension, no problemo.smile.png

Yes, we will always arrange that she is here upon 1 year extension.

AND: Our "Phu Yai Baan" has just sent me an e-mail with this regard.Him knowing that I have put my wife's 3 children through university and made many sacrifices personally to make this possible, he offered to "eliminate all problems regarding immigration and eventual controlling actions by local police" as far as the presence of my wife here is concerned.

If necessary, he says, all of the 155 habitants of my village will confirm "that I am a good farang" and have done much for the benefit of those village people.

Well, if under those circumstances I should be denied an "Marriage 0" visa, I will voluntary leave Thailand and this forever.

Cheers.

Yes, as others pointed out, is necessary her's presence at visa application and consideration of renewal (for one month) and every year you have to produce fresh pictures of the couple living together in the house. When the yearly extension has been approved she can move wherever she needs.

Cheers

It might be an idea to get someone you know to take a photo of both your wife and yourself standing together showing the address in front of the place you are renting. Immigration asked me to do that, and they seem quite happy with that as proof of where we are living, along with a copy of the lease and a map of the address.

Those pictures are part of the standard requirements so nothing special there.

Besides this they still can come around and inspect your house.

I wish they would come around the house do the all paperwork and take it away for the marriage extension, then come back and stamp my passport, don't mind one trip to Mae-sot but two's a bit inconvenient, dangerous road too.

I have yet to have a visit from immigration at my home, and this is the first time they have asked for the photo in front of the house, the officer said it was new requirement.

" I have yet to have a visit !! " Yep, me too, nothing in 7years but always something different every year at Mae-sot.

It seems to me Immigrations operate like DLT's in and around Thailand.

This years list.
