30 Day Tourist Visa Exemption - How Many Times?

Featured Replies

Hi all

I am currently in Thailand on a 30 day tourist visa exemption (I'm an Australian national). I'm planning to spend some more time in other countries in the region, but would like to continue returning to Thailand as a base. I'd like to do this until the end of the year if possible.

I am just wondering if anyone can explain the visa exemption system -- Is it possible to just keep leaving Thailand, and re-entering with an exemption stamp? (I know you get 30 days if enter by air, and 15 days if enter by land). Or is there a limit to the number of times you can do this?

Also, I am in my 30s, so please no need for advice relating to retirement visas etc :)

I have been searching for a specific answer to this question, but with no luck. Great if anyone can help.

thanks!

You can do as many 30 day entries as you want. After a few border entries getting 15 days they might question you as to what you are doing

Thanks ubonjoe, really appreciate the quick response!

I think I had read somewhere that there might be a limit of a total of 90 days within a 6 month period -- which is why I was confused. It's good to know there are no strict limits.

The 90 day rule went away at the same time they started the 15 day entries at the border.
