Hi friends,

How difficult is it for a Thai lady to get an engagement visa for America?

Your expert suggestions, guidelines etc., requested - thank you kindly.

I'm 62, she's 31 - we met on my first trip ever to Thailand in July 2000. She

was 19-20 then, had arrived in Phuket to work in a bar out of desperation, having

been abused and humiliated by her Thai boyfriend. She was the first girl I met - I noo

my single days were over in that instant (been married and divorced 3 times in California,

never more than 2-yrs to each, so I've already broken records in the "committment" department).

Still feel the same way about her today and have never been happier.

We've lived together in Thailand for 10 years - I have bank records showing

financial support on a monthly basis. I returned to work in California in October 2010 after

being on an extended holiday\retirement for 15 years (ran out of money, otherwise

would live in Chiangmai FOREVER smile.png )

The job is working out great and the money is flowing like old times so there ought not

to be any financial support capability issues.

I'm unclear about whether to make a life in America or just continue to live in Thailand - or have

both? But one thing is clear; without money there is no life so for now the pull from America is

dominant.

The simplicity of LIFE in Thailand is oh so appealing - but that is from my perspective - hers might

find the complexity of America oh so thoroughly appealing? smile.png

She can decide for herself.

Regards to all - and thanks for your help

A "Fiance'" visa is what you're looking for, a K-1 visa. Some info here:

Note, if you've not been back to Thailand for coming on two years, that might not look too good in the application.

Thanks Mac. I left LOS in October 2010 and this is my 2nd holiday trip back, so its averaging a once-per-year return.
