Converting Non-O (Retirement) To Non-B (Employment)

Featured Replies

Just have to ask if there is a way to convert my current retirement visa to Non-B for employment purposes without leaving Thailand and obtaining new Non-B?

Just visit immigration with all the relevant papeork and ask for an exension of stay based on employment inetad of for retirement. But you will also need to apply for teh work permit at the labour offcie and get a wp3 form, indicating you will get a ork eprmti once you have an extension of stay based on employment. So getting that is the first step.

Depending of on the OP's province of residence (and the nature of work applied for), I suspect that Immigration will accept nothing bar the actual WP and that Labour will not issue a WP based on an Extension of Permission to Stay for Retirement - Catch 22!

In this case a trip to say Malaysia with the relevant paperwork is required; note that a number of Thai Consulates are now asking for the Letter of Approval instead of the WP3 Receipt - so check before travel as the LOA can take more than a week to generate once the WP3 application is approved.
