Buying Nikon Camera In Hong Kong

Featured Replies

I am just back from a trip to Hong Kong/Macau.

I was looking at Nikon camera D5100 with 18/105 lens, but I was not sure if they were fake or not.

For the camera they asked for HKD 450 ≈ THB 18000. After some bargain we ended up with HKD 400 ≈ THB 16000 with Nikon warranty for Asia.

Same camera here in Thailand is around THB 35000.

Is this some China copy or is it real Nikon?

I didn’t bought the camera

Nikon is made in Thailand, and more often than not, cheaper to purchase outside of Thailand.

I seem to recall the Nikon D7000 kit was around 15% - 20% cheaper to buy online from Hong Kong, than from Big Camera in Thailand. I still bought from Thai due to customs concerns.

Can't say for sure but electronics are MUCH cheaper in HK than Thailand.
