Morning,

I have just read on the German Embassy website that you now have to apply to VFS for all German Schengen Visa applications from inside UK.

Has anyone applied using VFS?

Is it still as efficient as before ?

We need to apply for December, as we are going to Thailand and have a lengthy stop-over in Dusseldorf!

Regards

You have always had to apply in the country where you are legally staying.

Your Thai wife will need one you don't, should be a doddle to fill out is online.

I think the topic title is a bit misleading and should be edited by someone.

German Schengen Visa Applications in the UK via VFS (sounds better).

Where in Dusseldorf you gonna stay? Remember to go down the Koenigsallee for some good shopping if you have the chance to, am also in Duss around middle of December

I know I don't need a Visa and my wife has had a few Schengens in past.

My query is that VFS are now handling Schengen applications instead of the Embassy.

In the past when we applied to the Embassy the Visa was always back within 5 days, but with VFS now involved I wondered if anything has changed.

We wont be staying in Dusseldorf, as our stop-over is through the day.

Thanks

Hi. Yep I used VFS in London recently for a Schengan for my Thai wife. I won't beat around the bush - the device was crap from start to finish. In the case of a Schengan visa from the Spanish embassy you can still apply for that at the embassy itself bit you must however apply for an appointment in writing first - i don't have the link with me but will post it later at home. The added bonus is that the visa would also be free rather than going through VFS who

charge you for their device - not that you get any service. Have a look on google for the german consulate in London to see what they offer.

If you are only in transit airside, I don't think you need a visa.

You do not say where you are coming from, I assume UK.

Check this link. - http://www.oneworld....th-information/

Also, double check with the airline.

Our flights are with different companies, so we will needed to be landed by immigration to enable us to check in for our next flight!

The stop-overs are 13hrs and 11hrs so we will leave the airport and go into the city!

it was cheaper (£150 per person) to fly from Manchester to Dusseldorf then Dusseldorf to Bangkok (via Abu Dhabi) than go straight from Manchester.
