Thai Police Vs Uk Police Methodology

Featured Replies

Last week, we were driving a hired car around the back roads of Hua Hin looking for a Royal Project. Whils driving we came across a Thai Police checkpoint and was pulled over. I was asked where I was heading and asked toproduce my international driving licence or licence book. I promptly produced my UK licence. Fortunatly as well we were also carrying our UK passports because we wanted to get access to a Palace later which is miltary controlled.

One of the policemen said my licence was not valid outside of the EU. A heated legal debate was exchanged before the copper said coffee money.

A quick calculation in my head decided that paying this policeman and his buddy some baht and being on my way was the best option. After all I had admitted nothing.

I opened my wallet and pushed a 100 baht note near his fingers, he pushed it back to horror and askedmif I was trying to corrupt a police officer. I then proceeded to to push 200 baht near him, when he asked me to get out of the car.

He called his buddy over and they chatted away, my Wife said offer him 500 baht, reluctantly he took it, made some regark about Manchester, where i am originally from and Manchester United and Mwas on my way. My wife gave me ear ache all the way back to the apartment apartment about corruptiion and how i had no principles and should of not paid but fought it out.

I personally think i made thE best decision or so you think i sold out and what would you have really done, if you were in my shoes.
