New Rule For Visa Runs For Ed Visa

Featured Replies

Hello everyone!

1) My language school in Bangkok tells me that as per a new immigration rule, valid students do not have to make "Visa Runs" every 3 months, that is a student does not need to leave and re-enter thailand every 3 months anymore..

2) The student has to however REPORT at the Bangkok Immigration office EVERY 3 months with the required school paperwork / attendance records etc and get an extension.

The school is 100 percent sure. Any further clarification or information from members would be much appreciated.

Thanks very much!

That is the way it is normally done unless the student prefers (or school does not meet the requirements) to have multiple entry ED visa which requires border runs every 90 days.

Some school even qualify to get 1 year extension of stay.

As said this is how it has been for several years for most students, who can not qualify for one year extensions of stay for formal full time study. You only have to leave/return if using a multi entry non immigrant ED visa rather than extensions of stay.
