My one year extension of stay (based on Marriage) ends September 24. Next year I'll be leaving Thailand (rare) from June 14 to August 28. When I return I want it to be on the same extension of stay I'm about to apply for so I can apply again, as opposed to getting a new visa.

Do I need to be concerned with the timing here? I'm not sure how this works. If I apply on August 27, 2012 will my one year extension be until August 27, 2013. Or will it be one more year from current permission taking me to September 24, 2013?

Also next summer, if I get a re-entry permit and leave on June 14, 2013 and come back August 28, 2013 with permission to stay until September 24, 2013 will there be any problem getting stamped in? Will they just give me a September 24, 2013 stamp on that date.

Any help understanding how this works is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You will get an extension dated one year from your current permit to stay Sept. 24th.

Your re-entry permit will expire the same date as your extension and that is the date that immigration will stamp you into the country for which will again be Sept 24th.

You extend as normal this year and will have a Sep 24th date for next year. You should also obtain a re-entry permit at the same time (additional cost 1,000 baht and photo/form/copies) and next year when you return in August use that as your visa information on arrival card and get stamped in until Sep 24th, 2013. In the next week or so visit immigration again to extend as normal.

Timing is not a problem as long as your return is before Sep 24th.
