Thermodynamically Speaking: Should I keep my house at a constant temp to save money?
Not good. There is a HECK of a lot of thermal energy stored in the walls of a brick house. If this were a paper shack, like they have in America, then it would not matter. The walls of plasterboard, or gypsum board, do not store much thermal energy. However, a ton of bricks is a ton of bricks. It requires a LOT of cooling to cool down many tons of bricks. But, once you get the bricks cooled down, then much less energy is required to maintain the desired temperature.... Thermodynamically Speaking....of course..... -

Xi Jinping is not satisfied with winning the trade war
Apple can and will move their manufacturing to another country. Aren't they already in the process of doing that? To India, to the USA, maybe elsewhere. I'm not sure what portion of China's total manufacturing capacity is for the USA, but both directly and indirectly, without the US consumer they're in big big trouble. Trump won't be folding on China anytime soon. -

What psychological factors make people overlook Trump's character flaws
Op - did you actually write this? If so, very well written and cited. Or is this plagiarized from an undisclosed third-party. Former? Kudos. Latter? Shame, shame, shame. 💩 Fyi, I may not particular agree with it, but we don't often see well written analyses with citations by AN members, although I will give SpiderMike007 a nod as he also does often write well-written and thought provoking things which I may not agree with, but I do take the time to read. Anyway, just wondering. Former? Or Latter? -

income tax question
If you stay less then 180 days in the first year then you are correct, you will not be a tax resident and you can submit as much money as you want - millions or tens of millions - doesn't matter although you're going to lose interest on any extra, but that might be worth it. Personally when I become a tax resident again, perhaps in 2030 or some time around there I will have enough cash on hand inside Thailand already to last me the next 5 to 10 years in cash...assuming I can bear thought of remitting that amount from places where it is earning decent returns..... In Thailand I have only come across things like government bonds which have derisory returns The goal for me is to pay zero tax, ever. -

Don't you get tired of fear mongering
Since when do normal folks whinge non stop about Trump for 10 years? If I had lunch with you it would be 52 mins of anti Trump whingeing, 5 mins of eating and 3 mins of you going to the toilet to give my ears a rest.
