How Many Days' Stay?

Hi Jim, the 'NIOA' multiple re-entry visa is suitable for me as I travelled in and out of Thailand often.

Chuang,

Thanks for the info. Just to clarify, the above quote implies you got an "M" (multiple entry) on your original NIOA. However, as you've previously stated, you only got a 'single entry' visa and then had to go to Thai Immigration to get your multiple reentry stamp(?).

So you still had to visit Chiang Mai Immigration to get that reentry stamp (or did you get it at the airport upon arrival?). If you had to visit Immigration anyway, then to my way of thinking, it would be overall easier to haul along bank statement and medical form (and NO police report required) and extend an 'O' visa for retirement purposes. Doc and Huski have valid points.

But the NIOA route seems to have worked out nicely for you -- and I don't see that you had to waste any time getting your paperwork notarized/validated. And you were 'preapproved' for retirement before even entering Thailand. I'd hate to think that after moving to Thailand, I'd be unacceptable just because I smell like booze, have a chronic cough, and 8 of my fingers have fallen off. :o

Jimbo....it sounds as though the O-A and the mail system were designed for you. A certain amount of anonymity in the process :D
