Happy to provide the government's version of their seemingly never-ending successes over the past 12 months as its important to note just how far out from reality they operate.

Energy Minister Arak's infallibility rivals the Pope.

You don't have to go looking for alternative energy sources, if you can't see them already then you are blind.

Let's take the obvious one for starters, there's that big ball up in the sky, it has been the primary and only source of energy for the entire planet since creation, the technology already exists to tap that energy..... oh, hang on a second, the sun does that for free and doesn't have a vote.

Two of the Energy Ministry's achievements are surely to have postponed the bidding forthe latest round of oil/gas exploration-rights, from this month until early next year, and the gradual rise in diesel/petrol-prices, after the initial post-election tax-cut, which have contributed towards rising-prices across-the-board for consumers ?

Or "achieved a more stable energy security for Thailand through higher energy reserves" and "effectively controlling local energy prices", as they prefer to spin it. wink.png

and now, the Finance Ministry's turn to have a crack at it...

Kittiratt: 1-year performance a satisfactory success

BANGKOK, 10 September 2012 (NNT) – Finance Minister Kittiratt Na-Ranong has declared that the ministry’s first-year performance is satisfactory, saying its 4 policies have helped uplift the Thai economy.

Finance Minister Kittiratt Na-Ranong, along with his deputies and Finance Ministry officials, has organized a press conference to announce the ministry’s first-year performance.

He said it has been a success despite risk factors from the Euro-zone debt crisis and the US economic slowdown, which have shrunk Thai exports.

During the first year in office, Kittiratt noted that the Finance Ministry has focused on 4 policies, including flood prevention and rehabilitation, reduction of living expenses, increase of people’s income through minimum wage and salary hikes, and enhancement of entrepreneurs’ potential through corporate income tax reduction.

The minister emphasized that all of these policies have been a driving force for the Thai economy as they have helped boost the economic expansion and reduce the inflation rate.

Additionally, the Finance Ministry has been able to maintain its fiscal disciplines. As a result, the public debt to GDP ratio is less than 60 percent. Kittiratt also said that the government’s budget deficit was reduced as well, with the possibility of a balanced budget in the future, which he claimed is proof that his ministry has been successful in improving the Thai economy.

"corporate income tax reduction." That seems to be the one and only policy that the government has fully successfully implemented.

"including flood prevention and rehabilitation" That seems to be going well. Is the rehabilitation for last years floods or for the current floods?

The minister emphasized that all of these policies have been a driving force for the Thai economy as they have helped boost the economic expansion and reduce the inflation rate.

"reduce the inflation rate." Another white lie?

Additionally, the Finance Ministry has been able to maintain its fiscal disciplines. As a result, the public debt to GDP ratio is less than 60 percent. Kittiratt also said that the government’s budget deficit was reduced as well, with the possibility of a balanced budget in the future, which he claimed is proof that his ministry has been successful in improving the Thai economy.

Palming off a few billion baht to the BOT helped with that.
