Please note that the date for our 50th Run has been changed to Saturday 8 September. Ubon has an enetertainment black-out day next Saturday! Sorry if that disappoints anyone who cannot make the new date.

On Saturday 8th September Ubon Hash celebrates its 50th Anniversary Run. Amazing we made it this far, so the celebrations will include a free Ubon Hash T shirt (new design)* and free hot dogs/hamburgers etc after the run

.

Location is Nong Bua (the area south of Big C) and the kick-off/circle will be in Nong Bua park/lake. When I have a fully functioning connection I will add a map but, for now, here are the directions:

Go north up Chayangkung (the main drag) past Tesco Lotus. Soi Chayangkung 19 (aka Soi Nongbua I think) is on the left hand side opposite Mitsubishi Motors and 200 metres short of Index Living Mall. Turn left down this soi. Straight ahead to the end (about 600 metres) until you go through the park gate (never locked). Turn left in front of the large Nong Bua Park bronze plaque and park up.

Kick off is 4.30pm. If you prefer there will be a pick-up at Wrong Way café/bar (Phadaeng Road in central Ubon) at 4:00pm.

We are a small friendly group who do not take this running thing too seriously. Most walk the 3 or 4 click trail that is typically marked out by a 'hare' in advance (but you are equally welcome to run it and get back to the beer soonest). The trail will take in a few sights and possibly the odd improptu beer stop. At the end of the trail we have a few more drinks, sing a couple of silly songs and generally commence the socialising. For this special run there will be free food also. As usual, many of us will return to Wrong Way later on.

The farang fee for the run including beer and soft drinks on the run/circle is the usual THB 250/150/150 for an Ubon Hasher/Virgin (never done a hash before)/Visiting Hasher (1st visit) respectively. Cheaper for children and Thais - we actively encourage a broad base.

If you want to increase the chance of getting a shirt to your size PM me*. Sizes available are:

Ladies (slightly lower neckline): S, M, L.

Mens (actually unisex) S, M, L, XL

The Ubon Hash shirt will be available at future hashes at 200 baht each (XL 220).

We would especially like to welcome back any old friends who have not hashed for a while.

A good met was had and by the way I was wrong.

Tyger! Tyger! burning bright

In the forest of the night

What immortal hand or eye

Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies

Burnt the fire of thine eyes?

On what wings dare he aspire?

What the hand dare seize the fire?

And What shoulder, and what art,

Could twist the sinews of thy heart?

And when thy heart began to beat,

What dread hand? and what dread feet?

What the hammer? what the chain?

In what furnace was thy brain?

What the anvil? what dread grasp

Dare its deadly terrors clasp?

When the stars threw down their spears,

And watered heaven with their tears,

Did he smile his work to see?

Did he who made the lamb make thee?

Tyger! Tyger! burning bright

In the forests of the night,

What immortal hand or eye

Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?
