necronx99
Everybody seems to be familiar with the Northern and Ayutthaya styles of house, but Thailand has many more and differing styles to be found. Thought I'd start this thread as a place to post photos of old houses and assorted architectural tidbits to inspire planners and builders. Any old, different or particularly good feature you see in your travels, post it here These two pics were taken in the Portuguese section of Bangkok near the Santa Cruz church. The are around here is very old and a warren of footpath sized sois. many houses have no road access at all. This house seemed to have no access at all and I couldn't see much more than the roof, which I like.. This house is on the river, which seems to be it's only access. Despite the looks it is still inhabited. Must have been an absolute showstopper when it was new. I can picture it all oiled, with the shutters open to get the breeze....
