Burma’s Minister of National Planning and Economic Development Tin Naing said he hopes Japan will send a delegation to his country in mid-September, according to a report by Japan’s Jiji news agency. Tin Naing made the remark after meeting with his Japanese counterpart, Economy, Trade and Industry Minister Yukio Edano, to discuss plans by the two countries to cooperate on the development of a special economic zone in Thilawa, near Rangoon. Three of Japan’s largest trading companies—Mitsubishi Corp, Marubeni Corp and Sumitomo Corp—will have a 49 percent share in the project.
