I was wondering if anyone knows a place to buy some pepper spray in Chiang Mai. I have a girlfriend who lives in a dorm and there seems to be a guy comming up and flashing and masturbating, the guard doesn't do anything. many of the girls have complained but nothing has happend, I want her to be protected atleast to have some pepper spray for later at night, she often goes to 7 in the evening. she called the police they never came.

Get all the girls to gang up and when he does it, they should all come out laughing and pointing at what he is flashing.

That's quite disturbing. I don't think just arming herself with pepper spray is sufficient action, to be honest. If she can't get whoever is in charge of the guard to make him do his duty, then maybe she needs to get a few male friends/family members to give the flasher a good kicking to scare him off. It's not beyond the realms of possibility that the seriousness of his behaviour could escalate.

Does she have a camera phone or a digital camera?

Get some picture of this guy. The police might not come when you call them, but they might be more interested if you go to the substation (you will go with her) and show the pictures or video.

She should of course be careful when taking the pictures and if you can’t be there with her - then tell her to apply the pepperspay not only on his face…

You should be able to buy the spray where they sell knives and stun guns and other souvenirs.

I would certainly do this, but I am not in the country at the moment, I return in June and so I would definately do something if not kick his ass myself. Sometimes I think it is hard for thai women to stand up and fight for something like that. I know my girlfriend and her friends seem to accept the fact that he isn't doing his job, I told her to complain to the owners but not sure if she will. She said the guards have changed everymonth, so who knows.

I told her to look at Carrefoure for mace. I know she wont though.

Are most thai women so relaxed about their safety, I know the time I spent in thailand I felt safer then in most big cities in the US. I didn't spent alot of time in bangkok though. heh
