Looks like 100000 have slipped through the net but will they be sold at 3bt or 312bt? Neither price being remotely realistic!

The big surprise is neither one of the articles came from the Nation.

It would be nice if Thailand did some thing to help the people addicted to these products. Cut the demand and the supply will drop except for the stuff bound for other countries.

The situation in Myanmar is what would have occurred in Thailand's border provinces had there not been an intervention during the Thaksin administration. There is a narco state. The only way to stop it is to take it out. Myanmar either cannot or will not. Thailand, at the time, took out their narco terrorists and saved the affected regions from becoming what we now see in Myanmar.

Well you are right if Thaksin haden't intervened the border provinces would have been manufacturing it. Just go and kill a couple of thousand people and don't worry about their guilt or innocence.

All Thaksin did was drive the manufactures out of the country. He did not even put a dent in the drug use problem. They now buy from another country. I seriously doubt that we will ever see the government (no matter who is in power) address the drug problem here in Thailand.

How many of these pills are for sale here in Thailand and how many just passing through.

the demand by humane methods such as counseling, drug rehab

programs, in school education programs and the like than with a weapon.

Now if we multiple 3.3 million by 250 that should give you the actual street value of this haul

Absolutely agree Thailand has no program for rehabilitating drug addicts. Just places for them to go and get food and rested up to go back to do it ll over again.

I am not a fan of giving first grader's a pad but they are going to give some out any how. So why not a program on them about the result's of alcohol and drug abuse?

They have had some modest success. They have decrimalized a lot of things and as a result the use of them has dropped. There are a lot of users who are not addict's and when you take way part of the life style they stop using. Even for many addicts the life style is a part of their addiction. For needle users there is a lot of them who are strongly attracxted by the needle. That is some thing they have not been able to do any thing about yet.

The main point is they have given up on traditional methods and thought out side the box. They no longer spend so much money on policing and incarceration and in addition the crimes related to getting drugs have gone down. Les Breaking and entries less shoplifting etc.
