Kittirat

BANGKOK: -- Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva on Friday called on Finance Minister Kittirat Na Ranong to answer his party's parliamentary motion about his "white lies."

Kittirat recently admitted he did not speak the whole truth about the country performance for fear of causing loss of confidence. He said he sometimes had to tell "white lies" in order to boost confidence in the country's economy.

His admission has led to sharp criticism of his integrity, even though his intentions were good.

Democrats have filed a motion in parliament demanding that Kittirat, who is also deputy prime minister, clarify his "white lies." However, Kittirat assigned his deputy to answer the motion, claiming he had to attend Apec's finance ministerial meeting in the Russian city of Vladivostok.

Abhisit said the opposition wanted to hear from Kittirat himself.

He also called for House Speaker Somsak Kiatsuranon to follow the rules and say when Kittirat would answer the motion.

"Now the decision falls to Kittirat and the prime minister as to how to solve the problems that caused the lies. The administration will have a hard time because economic figures are unreliable," he said.

Apparently Abhist has not recognized the fact that the PT are in power now and they feel that it is OK to lie if it makes them look good.

With that attitude what can we believe coming from them?

Apparently Kittirat thinks the rest of the world is stupid and if he says it is OK here they will flock here to open big business with out getting the opinion from experts on the viability of doing it and getting a reasonable return on their investment..

Kittirat's remarks also show his disdain for the Thai's.

Right, while no question that Abhist is approx. 1 Million percent better than anyone on in the current government, I am always surprise what he is telling.

"Must do....against corruption" "police must do their job", "uphold the law", and now he even want that PTP doesn't lie.

That all sounds between naive and silly.

And PTP want to change the Constitution so they are not held responsible to the rule of law!!

Let's hear from the 'well they have been democratically elected so they can do what they want' brigade. Thailand is going backwards while these immature politicians exercise their power, without any fear of being held accountable.

I'm no expert on their election manifesto. Where does lying feature in it?

HD,

Are you saying that the AV admin told the truth all the time??? The mind boggles if your answer is of a positive nature.

Here we go again - he did it first so I can do it now :(

Well let's look backwards as it is preferable to dwell in the past.

The previous Government was not perfect but didn't have the luxury of being able to avoid being held to account.

The current situation is markedly different.

This Government has a significant majority, and uses that ability to stop any censure. They now openly admit that they can lie, with impunity.

The mind boggles if you think that the immature MPs who want to remove rule of law, are preferable to what has happened in the past.

Abhisit just doing his job as opposition leader. I don't think for one minute he expects to gain much political ground from this but every opportunity to discredit this government has to be exploited those are the rules of opposition. This government will certainly keep him busy. However, the opposition is truly a toothless dog snapping at the heels of a mob elected circus and it's a pity that his critisisms will mostly fall upon deaf/ not listening/couldn't care less ears.

This government will just counter this motion with another cooked up vague motion about his credibility thereby deflecting the attention etc etc..

The script writers of Yes Minister ( a British situation comedy set in parliament ) would have enough material here to just cut 'n paste from the media and then head to the beach for the rest of the week ! Job done.

I try to remain apolitical but with a heavy heart await the next gem from the soap opera that is unfolding before us. If only it really was just a comedy.

And the little white lie about people running into bullets..??

Or was that a little white statement of denial ?

Well one of two things

Either you think you are on another thread or you are attempting to change the subject.

If you are attempting to change the subject I would take that as a yes for Abhist but you don't want to admit it.

Apparently you are not alone in this I see scotbeve has joined you.

Here is a example of how silly talking about Abhist past is when he could have been Atilla the Hun and what he says is true.

Suppose you are offered a fine steak dinner to nite would you say no thank you I had a Hamburger two years ago.

All this government's policies are short of the truth.

The term "running into bullets" can also imply that the victims were shot retreating to what they assumed were their own ranks.

I'm no expert on their election manifesto. Where does lying feature in it?

The very first line.

Is that the line that needs an electron microscope to read it?

Yep, it's string-along theory.

I've heard of black-holes, is there perhaps a similar white-lie-hole, into which truth disappears, never to be seen again ? whistling.gif

At the risk of going off topic please tell me just what particular part of the constitution that the PTP wanted to change

"so they are not held responsible to the rule of law!!"

Any idea?

He's toast.

And the Pheu Thai Party expects that Bangkok will vote in this cold, hard, stale, burnt toast to be its new Governor.

.

Actually, word is it's Sudarat Keyuraphan (I'm sure you've got a dossier on her somewhere, or someone will provide you with one). She says she's unwilling but perhaps shes telling little white lies like the present incumbent who shot his mouth off before the dems had made their choice................

Indeed, the Bird Flu Minister has a long, checkered history.

She's denied several times over numerous of wanting to run again for Bangkok governor. Perhaps she's still hurting from her dismal finish against Samak or she's just lying again... same as her Bird Flu cover-up.
