Suspected Junkies Rip Off Akha Tribe People

PATTAYA:--Burglars broke into three rented Naklua rooms of peddlers from the Akha hill tribe as they were selling souvenirs on the beach. Among the items stolen were gold jewelry and 6,000 baht cash. Police suspect drug junkies living nearby as the culprits.

PATTAYA – September 9, 2012 [PDN]: At 12:15 a.m., a report of three rooms being burglarized was received by Pol. Lt. Col. Satapat Pimkam, the detective officer of Pattaya police station, Chonburi. He rushed to the scene with patrolling forces and the detective team.

The three rented rooms were located behind Fare Tex condo plaza, moo 5, Nakluea, Banglamung. The scene was single-story building, built in a row of 10 rooms.

The first burglarized room was number 179/54, rented by Mr. Aka Chermhue, age 39. He lost 6,000 baht.

The second room was No. 179/61, rented by Mr. Yi Muelae, age 34. His belongings were scattered about the room. He lost his piggy bank, a pair of gold earrings, and a 1-salueng gold ring.

The last room was number 179/62, rented by Ms. Nantikarn Maber, age 23. Nothing was taken from her room. All the victims are Akha tribe hill people.
