Rice With Less Carbohydrates ?

Featured Replies

Yes, i'm overweight and dont want to put effort into diet,

So is there any low-carbo rice out there ?

Not strictly 'low-carb', but if you eat brown (unprocessed rice) the body has to expend more energy in processing the carbohydrates and you also get more fibre in your consumption.

(isn't it crazy that it costs more to buy rice that has been through LESS processing?)

Fake it with cauliflower.

If you want to lose weight just stop the rice.....and bread and sugars.

Rice should be easy as it's about the most boring food known to man after posho meal.

(I love to shock Thais by telling them I don't like rice)

White rice is poison. All the nutrients have been stripped off it. Jult like white bread.

Stopping drinking for a bit works really well.

I've lost 3 kg in 7 weeks.

Perhaps replace the rice with salads? I have been buying the prepared hydroponic salads with some ham or other meat/chicken mixed in and find them very tasty as main meal of day. Even cheap if you make yourself from bulk packs.

Cauliflower blended as mentioned is solid idea.

There is also these Yam noodles sold in stores called Konjak or Shirataki.. It has no net carbs but tastes kind of carby... Nce texture and it absorbs flavors well.

Sold in all the supermarkets near the kim chi and pickled stuff.

I quote from Wikipedia

"According to the Canadian Diabetes Association, basmati rice has a "medium" glycemic index (between 56 and 69), thus making it more suitable for diabetics as compared to certain other grains and products made from white flour."

Basmati is an Indian grown rice

Thanks for sharing.

Judging by the degree of motivation and determination in the OP and his enquiring questions since my guess is he is out having a cheeseburger with double fries....

Just have half as much of everything.
