sticky
My wife who is Malaysian received an 'INDEFINITE' U.S. visa from the Embassy in Singapore in 1993. She made yearly trips to the U.S. between then and 1998, she has not been back since. We are planning a trip back in a few months. Is her visa still good? If it is good she has 2 passports between the one with the visa and her present one, can she enter if she produces all the passports or does she need to get the visa transferred to her current passport? If anyone can shed a light on this it would be appreciated. Cheers Sticky
Thanyaburi Mac
The "indefinite" visa was done away with some years ago. http://travel.state.gov/visa/questions/questions_1253.html "What are indefinite validity visas (Burroughs visas) and are they still valid? Indefinite validity visas (Burroughs Visas) are tourist/business visas manually stamped into a traveler’s passport which were valid for ten years. Effective April 1, 2004, all indefinite validity Burroughs visas became void. Therefore, if you have an indefinite validity visa you must apply for a new visa for travel to the U.S." xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx So, looks like you're going to have to start from scratch: http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/non-immigrant_visas.html Mac
sticky
Thanks for that, do you think she will have any problem applying for a new visa in Bangkok as she is Malaysian? She is a resident of Thailand and has had a business here for the past 16 years. Cheers Sticky
Thanyaburi Mac
I'd think no problem since she lives here in Thailand. Go for it! Mac
theoldgit
The US Embassy in Thailand processes visa applications for citizens and residents of Thailand, so yes that is where she should apply.
