In another Forum, a guy makes 30 days extentions on a 30 days Visa exemption entry with Visa service office.

Possible, or did he maybe get a 30 day extention, because he has or had a ED-Visa before?

He not admits that.

Also,he was not sick, in hospital or prison.

But it seems he came to Thailand with a 30 day Visa exemption entry.

He writes, he has to pay, 6.500 Baht or more for that kind of Service and extentions.

Entry on 14.07.2012 until 12.08.2012 Exit on 12.09.2012

Extention on 14.08.2012 until 12.09.2012

So, legal?

The passport stamps you posted show the following chronology:

14 JUL 2012: German national arrives without visa by air, apparently on Polar Air Cargo, at <illegible> and receives permission to stay until 12 AUG 2012.

14 AUG 2012: extension of stay at Chonburi immigration office until 12 SEP 2012 for the reason of ผ่อนผันวันหยุด, which seems to translate as "grace period". There is also a stamp referring to Police Order 777/2521, followed by the handwritten note "2.25", which obviously refers to clause 2.25 of that Police Order:

In the case of receiving medical treatment, attending rehabilitation, or taking care of a patient: Each permission shall be granted for no more than 90 days.

12 SEP 2012: departure from Thailand at Pong <illegible>, enters Cambodia, returns to Thailand on the same day without visa, and receives permission to stay until 26 SEP 2012

Is the one-month extension of stay he received on 14 AUG legal? Obviously, it is, otherwise he would not have been able to make that border run on 12 SEP without problem.

The immigration charges must have been

1,000 Baht overstay fee

1,900 Baht extension of stay

3,600 Baht agent's fee

--------

6,500 Baht total

The funny thing is that for probably less money he could have gone on a visarun bus to Savannakhet, spend a night there, and get a single-entry tourist visa.

Thank you very much for that information. I thought something like that, how they make that look legal and stick. Always TIT ! wink.png

Kind regards

They have a doctor or hospital that is producing documents that show that the applicant is undergoing medical treatment. It would all appear perfectly legit unless immigration did some checks and found that the same doctor/hospital was doing a lot of these and followed up on one os the applications and found the documents to be false.

Hi there,

my 30 Days of the Visa Exemption Rule run out on Monday which is a national holiday (HM The Queen's Birthday) and it would be most troubling to get a 7 day extension before that. Is it fine to do so one day later, on Tuesday? I already have a ticket to leave the country only 4 days later (Saturday) but want to minimize any risk rather then run around with an expired Visa. Thanks for any answers!

My 10 year old son who is an American citizen He has come in Thailand for a vacation and is due to return to the US in September ,he received the normal visa for 30 days upon entry ..I went to immigration here in Hua Hin and they told me repeatedly that he does not need to make a visa run .or visa extension because he is a student .and it will be " No problem" when he leaves Thailand .

So since I was told " No problem" I am worried that it could be a problem and I would have to pay the 500 bath a day fine anyway or have to defend what I have been told .

Is there a law or an immigration rule that supports what I was told so I can respond in case there is a problem .

Does anyone know what the rules are ?

Thanks

Your son does not have a visa. He was given a 30 day visa exempt entry.

You were given accurate information by the immigration officials. Children who "overstay" are not fined but will get a small stamp noting the overstay in their passport. This stamp has no negative connotations.

Under the age of 15 there is no fine for overstay collected but it is overstay. By law he should obtain a visa or visa exempt entry or if qualified an extension of stay. But easier for everyone to just get the overstay stamp on exit and indeed it will not be held against him.
