Re-Location To Thailand (Customs Clearance Regarding Removals)

Recommended Posts

I will be re-locating back to Thailand in Dec 2012. I will be obtaining an O Type visa based on marriage. I will then apply for an extention of stay after two months.

My question is will there be any issues with customs regarding being allowed to bring our personal belongings? Will we be taxed? My spouse is a Thai National.

Any advise would be great.

As your wife is Thai, import everything tax free. Caveat, used household goods, only one of any electrical item. e.g 2 tvs and they will tax one.

(as far as I know others may know more)

My suggestion would be to have her send back a shipment containing most of the goods but restricted to one of everything. Do this in her name as a returning Thai, If you have more than one send that to you as a person returning for an O visa but unless you have a work permit expect it to be taxed. mAKE SURE IT IS ALL MARKED AS USED.
