Assuming you want something to last for more than a couple of years, it's worth considering a machine that can be upgrade-able with the progress of time. Technicians can upgrade the RAM and HDD for you (check if the RAM of your preferred machine can be increased - google search), but the processor is fixed. So maybe worth getting a machine with a top-end quad core processor now...later upgrade RAM and change from HDD to SSD. You can store stuff in external HDDs, won't slow up you system, I can't see the point of having a HDD>256Gb, as I have > 1Tb stored externally.

Also, it is possible order a new comp. and get it delivered, rather than be restricted to what the local stores have.

Here's a link listing intel processors, note that a 'Q' means quad core:

http://www.cpu-world.com/info/Intel/mobile-processor-number.html

Here's the link for online shops in Thailand:

Here's what I was looking at - may not suit if you are a MS/Windows user:

I am also looking around. But I think it is more realistic to spend 30kB, and get something that should function for five years, rather that 20kB, that may be smoked-out in 2 years.

Just my 2-bobs' worth, AA

A friend who is a successful IT consultant and advises medium sized business's on hardware purchases as part of his service generally gives an edge to LENOVO for overall quality. This is for the higher end machines, not the consumer level ones being sold at discount stores.

He says that his opinion is based mostly on the quality of the individual components they use.

Charlie it all depends on what you are going to do on the laptop. If your looking at ebay and youtube all day you dont need anything more. If your wanting to play games you need to look again.

If i was just a normal facebook/youbube guy i would get anything with the AMD cpu and 4 gig ram 500gig drive and the biggest screen. As for upgrades, dont worry to much, its a laptop it will be broke and in the bin a long time before you want a new SSD or another stick of ram.

Facebook guy:budget 15k

Games:budget 25k and up

O if your a facebook/ebay guy and you buy a games machine you wiil not see any differance.

Look on the box and ask yourself will you use a HDMI out? or ever need 16TFlops computing performance smile.png

Buy what ya need mate with the money you have...

Set a bugdet and stick to it.

Just to add, Dont worry about the name on the box, You take them apart and they are all the same. Only so many ppl making drives, motherboards and ram. Dont let them BS you into the name on the box.

O Dont buy dell or apple. OVER PRICED SHIT!

Any of those should be suitable.

I wouldn't spend much on a laptop. They don't upgrade well and are relatively expensive to repair. Most shops will insist you need a new mainboard. They are fragile and easy to drop by accident. I consider them toys, really.
