I am really angry and want to smash my iPad 3 and dump apple altogether.

No YouTube on ios6 unless you get the iPhone app or through safari.

Major drawbacks are,

Can't save anything to favourites unless you have an account and a channel,

Saving to favourites is now more complicated,

Can't adjust the volume on the screen,

The reasons this annoys me so much is that my son has been able to use youtube for his favourite cartoons and learning since before he was 2. Now he is 3, he will no longer be able to as you need to be able to read and write.

This is progress is it apple?

Well done, you win a used tea bag.

I've been preaching to people that iPods, iPads, etc are a must in helping you child to learn, now I'm thinking or taking a hammer to the bloody thing. Stupid, so stupid.

using iOS 6 since almost 6 Months now on iPhone and iPad

and not miss the youtube app for a minute.

the youtube app from iOS 5 is years outdated, never continued development.

with your youtube and/or google account you wil be able to watch things on your TV controlled by the iOS as well, share the date across multiple devices.

also airplay works with the web-app just fine.

you can not blame apple for removing a stone age application, you have to blame youtube for never coming up with a own app in the first place.

the removal of youtube app has privacy reasons as well, since the apple app was able to store things and youtube does actually not allow that, exept you using the API's Youtube does provide.

My understanding of the removal of the original app was that apple would no longer pay the fee.

Old youtube.

While watching a vid, tap the screen to find the star at the bottom for favourites. 2 taps, so easy a 2 year old can use it.

New app.

While watching vid, tap screen, then shrink, then turn the iPad sideways to read it, 2 arrow keys and select the star for favourites. Plus you can no longer adjust the volume from the screen.

That's progress is it?

Apples basic principles since the company started have been to make computing easier. This is not making anything easier and fafing about physically turning the iPad twice and running your finger around the edge to find the volume buttons is a major step backwards.

Shambolic!

Anyway, I think it's possible to go back to ios5, so I will try that tomorrow. But as long as ios6 is like this, apple has lost me as a customer.

I kind of like the new youtube on io6 6 smile.png i also been using the ios6 for awhile downloading it from my apple developer account smile.png

me too, the seamless features to better integrate into Mountain lion, and enabeling nified contacts and groups and serval other things are outstanding since the first beta.

well somehow the airplay at on demand player are missing, but maybe thats something because i do not use "official" airplay devices.

after all its quite a good choice to go for.

including baby proof youtube apps ;)

Dude it's -- Google -- who made the new YouTube app, not Apple so blame them. There was a term contract with Apple for the old YouTube app that they let expire. They wanted to run adds in videos and the old app (and Apple) wouldn't allow it.

If you don't like the new YouTube app...it's all on Google. Their creation....their design.

But my slant on it is why didn't apple just extend there license to have the apple designed app? Considering how much money apple make, paying for it can't have been much of an issue. It's just apple wanting to omit all google systems from its products, which is fine if it doesn't harm the pleasure of using something, but it does. BIG TIME!

I doubt it's about fees. More likely it's about Google showing ads, and tracking users via the app for their advertisers. Also, Apple doesn't "omit" Google from their products. There are like a dozen Google designed iOS apps. Again...vent at Google for making a crappy UI for their app. It shouldn't be Apple's job to make everyone's crappy UI decent.

Try and explain this to a three year old who only recognises icons. So much potential thrown away, pathaethic. Having second thoughts about Apple, will wait and see how people focused they really are given the chance to prove it.

Went to the ibeat store today to ask about going back from ios6. The saleswoman said, 'it's because of YouTube, isn't it'. Lots of complains in Trang.

One thing about iOS 6. When you share a video they still have the old YouTube icon there. You click it and it brings you to the same upload screen from the old app. BUT, it doesn't work. When you log in all you get is "incorrect username". Why have it there?
