Jontien Beach Battle between Teenagers

PATTAYA:--Pattaya police arrest armed teenagers on Jontien beach after fight.

It’s the weekend, and perhaps Bangkok doesn’t have the appeal of Fun City for youngsters, so a band of 18 students, all under legal age, rented a bus to take them from the capital to the beaches of Jontien. They found a willing dirver and, together, paid him for the return journey.

As they reached the beach the 15 teenage men and 3 girls, some still in school uniform, ran to the waterside and settled down to have fun. Perhaps they were noisy, but for what ever reason they attracted the attention of youngsters from our own fair city and they ended up antagonising each other.

When, from a group of ten locals, a boy is said to have removed his belt and whacked one of the visitors about the head and body, the trouble really started. Running back to the rented bus the teenagers grabbed their luggage which was not suitcases, towels or buckets and spades, but a collection of the most vicious fighting instruments you could imagine.

Pattaya Police were called to the scene and got there quickly as the fight turned nasty.

18 Teenagers arrested, knives and baseball bats seized on Jomtien Beach

PATTAYA:--In the early hours of Sunday, Police were informed from a Civil Volunteer Patrol Unit on Jomtien Beach that a group of 18 teenagers had been detained, armed with long knives and baseball bats.

Police made their way to the scene and determined the group had travelled down from Bangkok on a “Party Bus” owned by Khun Terrasak aged 29, who claimed he was paid 2,700 Baht to take the group of students to Pattaya but was unaware they were heavily armed. The group consisted of 15 males and 3 females, some were still in their school uniform.

One of the group members aged only 15 told Police that they had decided to come to Jomtien Beach for the day and were armed in case they encountered local gangs, which is exactly what happened seconds before the Patrol Unit arrived. It is thought the encounter was with a group of 10 local youths and one of them used a leather belt and whipped one of his opponents. At this point the Bangkok group retreated to the “Party Bus” and began to arm themselves.

I'm sorry but what time did this all take place at? It seems to be dark in the photos and they use the term "early hours".

How is it some of the "kids" are still running around in school uniforms in the middle of the night on a Sunday?

12:01 AM starts the 'early hours'. Gets light a little later. Party was Saturday night. Sorry about the sarcasm.

I detected no sarcasm but still unclear what kids are doing still in their school uniforms. Of course I feel the parents need to take responsibility for the whereabouts of their children in the "early hours" of any night.

Sounds like a great place to raise kids.

Where are you referring to exactly since these kids all came down from Bangkok.

Or does your sarcastic remark extend to both Bangkok and Pattaya? or perhaps the whole of Thailand?
