100 year-old Statues found during renovation work at Temple Building in Pattaya

PATTAYA:--A Bell Tower at a Temple in Pong Sub-District on the eastern outskirts of Pattaya is being prepared for relocation to another part of the Temple, and during the process a selection of statues, thought to be part of a wall which was removed from the Temple grounds, were found buried within the foundations of the Tower on Tuesday.

The items were carefully removed by workers and examined by the Chief Monk who told us that approximately 100 years ago a wall, containing statues and other features within it was demolished as part of an expansion of the Temple. The statues and other decorative items were buried underneath of a new Bell Tower until they re-emerged 100 years later during the current works.

Great looking statues. Would seem a shame to rebury them.
