Best Place To Buy An Around The World Ticket Online?

It's been a while since my last RTW and it was about $1800 USD and was an open ticket, that is I could change times on any leg. Looks like around $2500 USD minimum now upwards to $10,000. A few sites to browse over in planning and howto. The lower prices you will have less flexibility.

It depends where you are (starting point) and believe it or not what age, as some places you can get better deals for students on break etc.

British Airways with their many alliances now have some good tickets from around 800 gbp, you can choose by direction and by number of stops etc.

You'd be better off with this in the Travel forum.

Charlie H is correct Student Fares still exist with RTW fares. To add to his links you can also check out Star Alliance

Try to learn a new lingo, there is NO back tracking and it will work. The agents who claim to do this are okay to issue but don't count on them to allow/make any changes (with these tickets airlines will tell you to contact the agent, best to check out the links with airlines and alliances, plan/chart the route and call the airline of choice. CAUTION....if you are London and BA plates your ticket (just as an example) and you need to make changes you'll need to find a BA office-this will create problems as they don't exist in lots of locations as they share with CX/AA but in name only and they can't do the changes, in other words make your plans and try not to make changes.

The prices are set by the airline alliances. Visit each of the alliance websites and you will find valuable tools and the pricing.

However, some airlines have their own deals. For example CX and SQ have a quasi RTW fare. You fill the gap on your own.

OP: are you here in Thailand? I've heard the best deals can be had in London. I had a friend who did this a few years ago. He spent quite a bit of time with the BA agent and finally got a package worked out. They can be complicated, so make sure you understand all the rules.

Do you have a specific route/countries you want to visit?

I like airtreks interface. Easy to play around with it. Bootsnall.com is another interesting site.

For Alliance RTWs most of the holes have been plugged and currency arbitrage a thing of the past. Gone are the days of South Africa, Libya (!), Egypt, Sri Lanka, unfortunately. I did many *A RTWs back in the day.

For the OP it would help greatly if you could define any budget, class of service, alliance, starting point, # of miles. It looks like the ex-RGN "mistake fares" may be back (as of yesterday, RGN-NRT on NH in C then onwards), albeit briefly. For riskier options Google "fuel dump". ;)

This sounds intriguing (mistake fares), can you elaborate?
