BANGKOK, Sept 29 -- Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has concluded 4-day trip to the United States and returned to Bangkok on Saturday.

During the US visit between September 23-29, Ms Yingluck has attended the 67th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) at UN headquarters in New York.

Ms Yingluck, hosted her weekly "Yingluck Government Meets the People" TV and radio programme recorded from New York, said she has taken this opportunity to present Thailand’s roles on the international stage and to persuade others to have confidence in Thailand.

Moreover, the premier has other important plans parallel to the 67th UNGA Session such as “Every Women Every Child (EWEC): Global Strategy for Women's and Children's Health”, a project initiated the UN Secretary General to reduce the death rates of women and children.

She has also delivered speech at ASIA Society on the topic “Thailand and the Southeast Asian Region.”

The Thai premier said she has a bilateral meeting with Myanmar President Thein Sein who was also attending the UNGA. At the meeting, she said, Thailand and Myanmar have agreed to accelerate development of the Dawei deep seaport project.

Besides, she has attended and opened the event “Thai Restaurant Week” under the Thai Kitchen to World Kitchen policy of the Ministry of Commerce.

Ms Yingluck said she has visited a park and Grand Central Station to learn about efficient management system, urban planning, and safety system in New York City in order to apply to Thailand.

In addition, she has shared experiences with Mayor of New York City Michael Bloomberg who is a well known mayor and known for his success in business and city management.

Ms Yingluck said she has also visited schools in Harlem, New York, which are parts of the UNICEF projects for child and youth, in order to observe youth education. (MCOT online news)

Busy girl in 4 days. How many travelled with her, how many speech writers, ministerial advisors, how many makeup people, secretaries et al. Bet it cost a bomb but I have not really figured out the importance of the agenda or even the necessity. blink.png Nero fiddled whilst Rom burned. Yingluck toured whilst Thailand/Bangkok flooded. I guess it's all about priorities.

Ms Yingluck said she has visited a park and Grand Central Station to learn about efficient management system, urban planning, and safety system in New York City in order to apply to Thailand.

So she has gone for a walk around the park and visited a train station which would at most taken up 3 hrs of her time and in that 3 hours she has learned how to apply efficient management and safety procedures in her home country?

Ms Yingluck said she has also visited schools in Harlem, New York, which are parts of the UNICEF projects for child and youth, in order to observe youth education. (MCOT online news)

If she is so keen to observe youth education she could have easily saved a few Baht and toured schools outside of Bangkok?

She is living in a dream world!

Well I think it is a genuine fact finding tour!.........................to discover any other big big money projects that can be 'budgeted ' for and implemented back home! The treasury hasn't been quite sucked dry yet, and only 2 years left to do it.

Minister of Commerce revives Thai Cuisine to the World project

BANGKOK, 29 September 2012 (NNT) - Mr. Boonsong Teriyapirom, Minister of Commerce, said during the weekly television program “Yingluck Government Meets the People” this morning that his visit to the New York City to attend the UN General Assembly, provided an excellent opportunity for the Ministry of Commerce to hold a Thai Restaurant Week in the city.

The event is aimed at increasing the popularity of Thai food, as well as the image of Thailand. The Minister said it was also a way to resurrect the Thai Cuisine to the World campaign. This project began in 2006 during the Thaksin Shinawatra administration.

The New York City already has over 560 Thai restaurants. The Thai Cuisine to the World campaign will not only promote Thai food in the world market, but also serves as a stimulus to the expansion of food-related exports. At present, Thailand earns over 20 billion THB from food exports.

WRONG!

Mr. Dhanin Chearavanont, the owner of CP Foods, receives a lot of that revenue.

His company 'Charoen Pokphand Group' earns most of those 20 Billion, not Thailand!! giggle.gif

Prime Minister sums up her visit to New York

BANGKOK, 29 September 2012 (NNT) - Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, in a pre-recorded interview for the program “Yingluck Government Meets the People” broadcast on Channel 11 this morning, provided a summary of her visit to the United States to attend the UN General Assembly in New York. The prime minister revealed that she had executed up to 20 duties during this visit which had certainly made her feel a little tired.

The Prime Minister said that at the UN General Assemby, she explained various government policies, as well as cooperation agreements made with other countries. Apart from the UN meetings, Ms. Yingluck had a discussion with the leader of Myanmar regarding the development of the Dawei deep sea port. She was also taken on a tour to observe the city planning of New York and hoped to adapt the plan for use in Bangkok and other provinces.

The Prime Minister added that the visit provided a good opportunity for Thailand and other ASEAN nations to meet members of the international community, the results of which would be beneficial to the formation of the AEC scheduled in 2015.

They are talking about Thailand's food industry, Of course C.P. Group, Betagro, Centagro and etc are not State owned, they are private businesses and they earn revenue....as they should. This is not China!

Khun Dhanin does not own CP Group, it is a publicly held company. He is second generation of the founding family who started CP Group as a seed company way back in the 1920's. He took over as the Chairmen from his older brother Khun Jaran, and His son Khun Supachai will take the helm of the company in the next two years. They are the leaders of the company not the owners, their job is to make the company profitable for the shareholders. When corporations prosper inside a country such as Thailand with this tax/political structure, so does the government/country prosper by reaping revenue and status internationally. Why would you post such pointed words, when you obviously have not a clue what you are speaking of!

Her biggest success of the trip was the seaport deal with the like minded President of Myanmar from which I'm sure her family will benefit enormously. T probably skyped his way into that conversation, maybe an interest free loan...Mission accomplished.

The management structure of CPF is functioned by business line. Post the consolidation of agro-industry business of Charoen Pokphand Group to be under the Company in 1999, CPF also had vivid investment policy of investing only in core-business and/or businesses that related to its core-business only. As of December 31, 2006, CPF has investments in subsidiaries, associated companies, and related companies of THB32,762 million, equivalent to 47% of CPF’s total asset. CPF has policy to appoint management representatives to be as directors, who has controlling power, to govern the management of subsidiaries being effective and efficient as to the Company policy. CPF monitors the performance of its group of companies by having monthly meeting which is set to mutually consider their performance and guide the business plan with target for the month to come. For each investment consideration, CPF may directly invest or invests through its subsidiaries which operate related-business. However, CPF has policy to have 100% holding in subsidiaries, excluding the joint-venture with the strategic partners.

Any JV is always held at above 50.1% of ownership, and the Chearavanont family OWN the CP Company.

It is not publicly held, and never has been, but it does JV or expand with other companies with a maintained major shareholding, unless it sees no need to hold control but let the money roll in, but still maintaining directors of those companies also.

So I do have an idea of what I am talking about, and you on the other hand are a vindictive poster.

So go do one!

Compared to her brother's recently completed USA trip, there's a number of positive differences.

She wasn't asked to cut her trip short and leave early.

She actually did meet American politicians and American business people.

She was able to avoid the third-rate Thai food shops.

She didn't have anyone shout in her face, "Go to Jail !"
