I will be up in chiang rai tomorrow and am gonna book a hotel today, but would like to watch the golf in my room. Anyone know of a hotel there which is not ridiculously expensive and that has skysports in the rooms and preferably decent tvs?

I have found that most hotels offer a limited English language package to rooms. Common are BBC, Discovery, Fox Movies, True Sport 1, maybe ESPN, CNBC, TV Monde and a couple of others...........none of which will have the Ryder Cup on. I hope you find somewhere as its a great bi-annual event.
