7by7 Posted October 1, 2012 Share Posted October 1, 2012 For those who applied for their initial settlement visa prior to 9/7/12 the only change is to the language requirement, which comes into force in October 2013. If applying for ILR from October 2013 an ESOL with citizenship course is no longer sufficient; you must have Passed the Life in the UK test. and Obtained level B1 of the CEFR in speaking and listening, or better. For those who applied for their initial settlement visa on or after 9/7/12 then as well as the above the qualifying period for ILR will be 5 years instead of the 2 under the old system, with an FLR application also required after 30 months in the UK.
