Hi...

I m a new green card holder in the usa. Got it through lottery diversity Visa.

My question is I live for 3 years with a thai lady.

Can I bring her to usa? If I get married? How long it takes?

Or can she come under a tourist visa if not married...? She is poor.

If I'm reading this Visa Bulletin correctly, it'd be over two (2) years after an Immigrant visa petition is file before the wife or husband of a Green Card holder could move on to the U.S. I sure didn't think it'd be that long.

The family-based preferences are as follows:

(2) Second Preference (114,200 admissions per year)- Spouses and unmarried sons and daughters of lawful permanent resident (LPR) aliens (“green card” holders). This category is further broken down as follows: a. 2A- Spouses and minor children of LPRs b. 2B- Unmarried sons and daughters of LPRs. (Divorcees are considered “unmarried” for purposes of this category).

I call this discrimination.

It s not normal than a wife or husband has to stay outside for years....

We don't do that in europe. Even thailand don't do that....

How is that discrimination? The US has been generous to you by giving you an immigrant visa. If you wanted your girlfriend to go with you then you should have gotten married before submitting your application AND included her on the application.

Do you expect Immigration to be mind readers?

Every country in the world has waiting times for new immigrants and Citizens family get priority over non-citizen permanent residents. Also new marriages registered after the spouse recently acquires immigration status are not looked on favorably by Immigration. But if it's better in Europe or Thailand, then you can go there. America will not miss you.
