'Civilized' is just a made-up word. In todays' overpopulated world, there is only one surefire method: look after the victim, take care of the perp. You may be a nice guy but that is not normal. Vigilante violence and public hanging went out a while back. But the court adjusted that sentence to four years and six months to take into account sentences for prior offences. He will be eligible for parole on April 19 next year, but faces a likely deportation to Thailand. The court heard a violent, unprovoked bashing just months after the sexual assault, for which Punna-Ophasi was convicted, was a contributing factor in the sentence. This scum is most probably from a 'privileged' background, as such was given the chance that many Thai's can only dream of, and how does he show his thanks? He rapes an innocent girl, not satisfied with that, he without provocation he kicks the crap out of someone. In my humble opinion where other countries fail in cases like this is that they should examine what the sentence would be in the offenders home country and give a like sentence.
