Converting 3 Month Visa To 1 Year.

Featured Replies

Last week I got a new 3 month Non-O visa from Laos. In the next week or so I'll have 100k in the Thai bank. So will there be a way to convert my current visa to a Non-O 1 year visa without leaving Thailand?

On what grounds did you receive your Non Imm O Visa?

If for having a Thai Wife you need 400,000 Baht in a Thai bank to apply for a 12 month extension.

You can get a Multi Entry Non Imm O Visa from Savanakhet Laos or KL Malaysia.

For applying for a 12 month extension at Immigration:

(6) In case of marriage with a Thai lady, the husband who is an alien must have an average annual income of not less than 40,000 baht per month or a money deposit in a local Thai bank of not less than 400,000 baht for the past 2 months for expenses within a year.

To extend your Non-O within Thailand, you need:

1. If applying for a 1 year marriage extension: 400k in a thai bank in your name only seasoned for 2 months or 40k per month income. (1900 baht)

2. If applying for a 1 year retirement extension: 800k in a Thai bank in your name only seasoned for 2 months(first time) or 65k per month income from outside of Thailand (1900 baht).

If you do 1 or 2 you only have to report your address to immigration every90 days but do not have to leave. (free)

If you only have 100k and are married to a Thai (or have Thai chlidren), at the end of your current visa your can go to Savannaket ro KL and apply for a multiple entry Non-O visa, but you will have to leave the country evry 90 days. (5000 baht).

If your current Non-O is for having a Thai family you can extend it for 60 days in Thailand. (1900 baht)

Thanks for the info. Sorry I didn't give all the info you needed.

I'm not at retirement age yet, am both married to Thai lady and we have a child.

My current 3 month Non-O visa was based on child, although they asked for almost every document possible (unnecessary really).

Will shortly have 100k in Thai bank account.

I wasn't aware that I could get a 1 year at Savannaket, I would have done that instead if I had known.

I'll probably have to get the 1 year as soon as possible, as I'll need to use some of the money shortly thereafter. So Savanakhet might be an option, if I can get a 1 year from there.

Without funds Savannakhet is best choice. If you have 100k KL is also an option. This is for multi entry non immigrant O visa valid for one year of up to 90 day stays (so almost 15 months stay time with only border crossing type trips required. Normal marriage certificate and copy, copy of spouse ID card and home register signed/dated by her and good to have copy of birth certificate of child or letter from wife asking for visa to be issued.
