Aus Tourist Visa / Processing Time

Featured Replies

Hi, so we sent off a tourist visa app for my wife last Monday from Ubon post office (GDA center ?) . We are cutting it really close with flight dates, what are the chances we will get everything back this week ?

My wife has been to Aus before and I would think that it would be an 'easy' one to grant if that makes any difference in processing times.

Thanks for your help !

at the moment it is taking about 7 days for processing. having said that a mates GF put in one and it has been about 9 days so far. so good luck

Vague Opening Posts get vague replies ... luckily Elwood62 was able to sum up your question with a succinct reply.

Your partner sent her application from Udon to 'where' and 'how'.

'Where' ... VFS in Bangkok or directly to the Australian Embassy.

'How' ... by courier ... regular mail?

Have you paid to have the Visa application 'tracked' so that you have a rough idea here the Visa application is residing.

Did you pay for it to be posted back, couriered back?

My Thai gf asked for her 2nd tourist visa earlier this year and the time it took from posting the application to receiving back the Passport was a week.

Good luck with a successfull application and getting the Passport back in time.

Did you already pay for a plane ticket?

Why do so many take this chance?

Just doing the numbers in my head quickly, sent last Monday, so perhaps didnt leave till Tuesday. Then time to get to BKK, then thrown in with another 1000ish other apps, waiting to be picked up and read . Then approved if everything is ok and a reply to your wife.

Hmm, possibly possibly!

our took 7 days friends took 11 days as I posted above I would never have tickets before I know about visa. visa first then get ticket good luck

My partner Lodged a 3month Tourist visa application on thursday last week. via the VFS courier sevice at udonthani

,

She rang the embassy to let them Know as she has another application in for a partner visa/ she said that the lady from the embassy sounded real busy,(might be a reason why they are taking a little bit longer)

She dose'nt plan to travel until next month,(so we have a few week's to arrange travel)

Some pretty good advice on this topic about buying your ticket's before getting a visa approved, it can be a lot more costly to buy a ticket a couple of day's before travel, but i think it would be a lot more costly to book a ticket and then not be able to travel on those date's a catch 22 i suppose.

For anyone who's intrerested i will update with how long it take's for my partner to get a decision.

Cheer's and

Edit;

I've been in the situation before where we have been awaiting the decision on the tourist visa, last time i was able to book the flight's without paying, most travel agent's can hold the booking for three day's

  • 2 weeks later...

Just an update on the time frame for my partner's tourist visa.

Lodged with VFS courier service at Udon Thani 4/10/2012.

Passport with visa approved arrived in mail 18/10/2012.

The date on the visa slip was 15/10/2012.

Alowing for the postage time 10 days for a desicion to be made.

Wonder how the OP went?
