Hi fellow TVs, i arrived in Phuket on the 27/07/12 from Australia i have a triple Tourist Visa, on the stamp in my passport it says issued on 12/07/2012 and also another stating must be utilised before 12/01/13 i am already on the 30 day extension 1900 baht from immigration...i will be travelling back to Australia on the 23/10/12 for a week and will be back on the 30/10/12 the question is i was thinking i could get 270 days with 3x60 days TV plus the 3 extensions x 30 days (90 days) just a tad concered with the 12/01/13 utilised date......your help would be much of help....cheers

The utilize by date means that after that date the visa is no longer valid. In other words you can no longer use it to enter Thailand. If you are already in Thailand you can stay till the end of your permission to stay and also get an extension of stay (if you didn't get one already).

As long as you make your last entry before Jan.13 you will get another 60 days entry. You will be using your 2nd entry on the 30th when your return from your trip.

You lost 15 days of your 270 day count between the visa issuance date and your arrival date.

thanks for the response.........when i come back on the 30/10/12 i will use another tourist visa 60 days which will put me up to say end of the year then if i get another extension for another 30 days it will put me over the utilised date ie: 12/01/13 and put my last TV out of action so to speak???

In theory, 270 days is the maximum but that would be nearly impossible.

First, you lose the days between the Date of Issue and your first entry to Thailand.

Then, since you are leaving before the end of your first extension, you lose a few more days.

Plus, you lose the days you are gone.

Then, even if you choose the pay 1,900 baht to extend your second entry you will need to exit and re-enter roughly two weeks later in order to make a third entry before the expiration on January 12th.

Correct. you would not be able to use the 30 day extension completely, but would need to elave and return on 12/01/2013 for another 60 days (and 30 day extension).

It adds up to something like 235 days in Thailand, give or take a few.

thanks fellas........so if i get an extension before the end of the year and dont use all the days (30) leave the country before 12/01/13 and use my TV (60 days) and extend at the end of that for 30 days................looks like you say i will not get the full 270 days which i had previously thought........ah well....saves me $$$$ leaving earlier...............
