Dear forumers, both my wife and son are forumers and when they came over here they were granted a 3 months non immigrant o visa. If i were to extend it for them? what documents are required? all 3 of us are foreigners. And can i extend it one year for them? any input would be appreciated. Thanks

Your wife can be a dependent of you, simply based on your marriage and proof of that.

For your son the question is how old is he. If under 20 years old, he can be a dependent too. if older, he needs his ow reason to stay in Thailand.

Edit: as Lopburi points out, you must be on a 1 year extension of stay yourself.

You would have to be here on an immigration extension of stay for a specific reason - and they would then use section 2.20 of police order 777/2551 to stay as your dependents and receive the same extension of stay meeting below requirements. But we need to know your status to be specific as to if it applies to you.

(1) The alien has obtained a temporary visa (NON-IM);

(2) Proof of family relationship;

(3) In the case of a spouse, the marital relationship shall be de

jure (legitimate) and de facto; or

(4) In the case of a child, adopted child or child of his/her

spouse, the said person must not be married, must be living with

the family, and must be less than 20 years of age; or

(5) In the case of a parent, the said person shall be 50 years of

age or over.

im currently holding a one year non immigrant b visa and 1 year work permit.

A visa (you have to leave the country every 90 days) or an extensioon of stay for 1 year from immigration?

also i do have certificate of marriage from my home country and birth certificate from the same country as well.

You have your answer in Lopburi3's post.

You will need your marriage certificate and sons birth certificate for the application at immigration. They will be issued extensions that will as long as the time remaining on your extension.

Did you get your extension from within Thailand or outside, if from the Immigration office in Thailand then you can apply for your wife to be under your visa (this is known as piggy backing).

Only if he is on an extension of stay himself, which is not clear.

originally i have a 3 months non immigrant b visa, but i extend it one year and made myself a multiple entry permit. if i was to stay in thailand for any 90 days at a time they require me to report myself.

Good, that means your wife can get an extension of stay basically just by proofing she is married to you and you are on an extension of stay. (see post number 4 for the rules). Your son can get an extension of stay if under 20 years old, but if going to school he can also apply for an extension of stay based on his education.

thanks, so means for me to extend the non immi o for my wife and son, i only need the application form, certificate of marriage, and birth certificate of my son right? Because in my case to extend my non immi b needs hell a lot of documents, it was at least 2 inches thick. such a nightmare for that one.

Yes, that should be enough (Provided the marriage/birth certificate are in English, otherwise you need a translation. Don't forget your passport and arrvial card, pass photo's of them etc, Their permission to stay depends on your your status.

From 2.20 of police order 305/2551

1. Application form

2. Copy of applicant’s passport

3. Copy of the passport of the alien who has been permitted to stay in the Kingdom

4. Copy of documents proving relationship, such as a marriage certificate, a birth certificate, registration of child legitimization, household registration certificate, child adoption registration certificate, or other evidence from the government or relevant agency

The copies of passports would include photo page, visa's, entry/permit to stay stamps and your extension of stay.

Actually it is them who will be obtaining the extensions of stay so your passport with extension of stay will be the primary factor - so be sure you have that and copies.
